well, I don't think food at TGI's sucks...

Me either - but Applebees OTOH..... :dead:

we like Applebees too ...

it is Chilis we don't like.. some things are ok, like their Chicken tortilla soup and their mashed potaotes...

We'll have to try Applebee's and TGIF's sometime. Chili's is good enough for a decent meal. When you want to just get out of the house and you don't feel like cooking, we end up going there a lot.

they are all pretty similar but TGI's and Applebees are a little better.. at least in my humble opinion.. we like the drinks there the most  they have a good strawberry margarita at Applebess... and the mozzarella sticks at TGI's are soo good...

That could be the best $50 blob you've never had! All of those $50 blobs I've had were pleasing to both my eyes and palate. I'd pay obscene amounts of money for fantastic food.

well, lets just agree to disagree... our definitions of fantastic food are different...

I am not saying TGI's has fantastic food but it is food I enjoy..

but some of the best food I have had here have been at the little dumpy looking places... like this little Mexican place down the street.. it has the best enchiladas I have ever tasted and the guacamole is soo good..

Don't get me wrong - I prefer a mom-and-pop restaurant over the chains. I was a server at Chili's and I know they use a order system that's much like the fast food restaurants....if somebody's order isn't ready within 15 minutes from the time it was entered by the server, it flashes in red and the manager goes into a panic. Yes, Chili's and many other chains are basically, upscale fast food joints, but they do serve a purpose for those who can't or don't want to spend a lot of time dining out.

Even if I could afford it, I wouldn't be spending $50 on food all the time, it'd be extremely rare. Sujeet would never go for that! He'd rather save it for something else. I just find a lot of this funny. If you say you like TGIFs or Chilis, etc, you have to be schooled in slow food and other stuff as if all you do is eat at those restaurants. Many on VJ know you make delicious recipes all the time, at home. You food slob.

Yeah, amen.

You don't need to spend a fortune to get an excellent meal. That little Mexican hole-in-the-wall joint probably cooks simple, honest meals with local, fresh ingredients.

Appleshlong's and TGIChili's use crappy processed food, and if they listed their ingredients on the menu, the recipes would likely include high fructose corn syrup, sodium bisulphite, silicon dioxide, disulphides, monosodium glutamate, maltodextrin, and all that other #######, whatever it is.
