TX to Mark Non-USC Driver's licenses

Besides the actual mark on the license, all of this has already happened in Indiana. All of your immigration documentation will be verified with USCIS in Annapolis before you can get any form of BMV issued state ID, period. Despite there not being a mark, I have trouble believing that this information is not kept somewhere.
Did you mean Annapolis (last I checked, it's capitol of MD not IN) or Indianapolis?

It is verified with a specific USCIS office in Annapolis, MD. This was the explaination given to us for why it all was taking so long. 7 months, for the record. My husband had his visa to come here in 3.5 months.

A different driver's license for non-citizens sucks.

Period.

I also rarely carry any I.D. with me when I go out and about.

You made me laugh Tavoludo.

This has zero to do with racism. What is does have to do with is the millions of people that decide to overstay and become illegal aliens. It just ties driving privileges to the privilege of a visa or residency. Illegal aliens should not be given driving privileges.

People that obey the law have no reason to worry. Legal residents have nothing to worry about. They can b*tch about it, but they have nothing to worry about unless they decide to overstay.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Also, this plan has a very serious loophole. Most states allow a foreign tempworker to retain the foreign DL for a time well-past the "normal" deadline for swapover.

So what will TX DPS do if a Mexican on TN-2 visa shows a Zacatecas DL when stopped (other than the cop getting ticked-off due to being confoozled)?

Zacatecas FTW

I guess he will have to show his immigration papers, but again this is not about nagging, it's about enforcing another agency to do the job of USCIS. Next stop? citizenship/LPR checkpoints every time you enter/exit a city wohooo!

Are you FROM Zacatecas (I picked that state simply at random)?

I actually have done the analogous version of retaining Canadian (Alberta) licence while on TN-1--and showing that when stopped for speeding near month-end in GA (and yes, it did royally tick-off the cop as he wasn't able to rack me up against quota).

My family is, I was born in Mexico City ;)

No sht, in GA is bad man, I was there about 3 yrs ago and pretty much when the cops see a brown brother, they are on their way because they know they are most likely illegal and will have to ticket their behinds for failure to show a valid drivers license.

It's all business, employers get their low-wage workers, the system gets a sht load of money for those tickets, cops meet they quota, immigrants get to send dollars back home, (and this will be loved by some here) immigrants get to send their kids to school for free  waiting for the KKK to get me :innocent: bring it on biatches!

Food for thought . Fine!!.......don't give them driving privileges. But they have cash to buy cars. They are next to us right now on the highways. Because we refused to issue them with DLs, they cannot buy Motor Vehicle Insurance. So we.......the citizens are unsafe all the time on the highways.

Texas is full of them. IMO 5 out of 10 times (maybe/maybe not) half the accidents out here are caused by Untested/Unlicensed/Uninsured drivers.

Well since she said 'in my opinion' I'm assuming it's based more on her own personal observations than any real study.

I just want to know why the license is vertical and says temp. visitor when it's for a permanent resident? I think they are trying to cut down on green card holders drinking :) YOu know some idiot at the liquor store isn't going to buy this.

Just because a population breaks whatever laws aren't convenient for them to comply with we should just roll over and cater to them?

I like plan "B" better. Illegal alien is in the USA illegally, working illegally, driving illegally, and breaking whatever law doesn't suit them. How about arrest, detain, and deport the scofflaws? Do we really want to incentivize chronic lawbreakers? I don't.
