If any of you have ventured into the ME/NA forum, you may have seen a pinned thread at the top for "sultan's kitchen". That thread has been around for 2 or 3 years now and has a TONNN of recipes in it. We frequently see ppl asking about traditional dishes native to ME/NA and I got the bright idea to turn it into a bonafide cookbook. It has become a wonderful collection of recipes and is over 215 pages!!!

I'm nearing the final stages of creation now and am offering them to all VJ members if anyone is interested. The cost will be 27 dollars per book and that covers shipping and printing. I am setting up Paypal to accept payments and will give that information to those who are interested.

They will be a pay-in-advance thing as the cost to print and ship is quite high and I don't have that kind of money just laying around lol!

If you are interested, please feel free to pm me with any questions you may have and I'll be letting you all know when it is being sent for printing.

I plan to give them as christmas gifts to my family, friends, and co-workers but I have to move fast to get them completed in time. There is no limit on the amount of books you order but keep in mind that they are pre-paid orders.

Thanks in advance

Hmm....Well, you need to re-distribute that profit. I will not buy your book because those are others people idea.

It's not about that, given the statement that the cost only includes printing and shipping. It's about the TOS: "Advertise or offer to sell any goods or services for any commercial purpose, other than in areas of the Service that are intended for such uses."

My interpretation of the TOS suggests that this is an acceptable proposal, but then again, this is not my website.

Edit to add: If Ewok approves it, mark us down for 1 copy!

from what i can tell, it's ok as it's not for commercial purposes, but good question. still a good idea to get a post of approval by ewok.

she's not making a profit. she's covering the costs, and did all the compilation work for us gratis :)

Thanks sara :star:

I'm not making a profit and I had 100% approval from the recipe holders to post their works in the cookbook. I have also included the recipe holders' VJ names and if they didn't want to be named, they were classified as 'unknown'.

The money from the books is going directly to cover the cost to make them, print them, and have them shipped. They were more an idea as a gift to the vj members because so many newer members come in and have no idea what to cook for their spouses/loved ones. I even considered doing this for all the different forums here so each forum could have their own personal cookbook native to their countries. I guess if there is any change left over, I can give it as a donation to EWOK  ooo that's a good idea.

so it shall be....IF THERE IS ANY CHANGE LEFT FROM THE PURCHASING OF THE COOKBOOK, IT WILL GO DIRECTLY AS A DONATION TO CAP'N EWOK FOR THE WONDERFUL JOB HE HAS DONE IN MAINTAINING VISAJOURNEY!!! :luv: we love ya ewok!

el capitan has been notified  I made sure to ask for his blessings before proceeding forth on this project!

Thanks for the heads up on that, I sure don't wanna violate TOS as that was not my intention.

If you are simply covering the costs and maybe enough for some random expenses in publishing and shipping then sure. Please do not turn it into a solicitation of members without them asking but you can openly talk about it within limits -- again if it is sold to VJ'ers at cost. Off the site sales are up to your imagination.

Whew, that's awesome to know! Thanks Cap!

Yes I'm only covering the costs to create and ship the books. I'm a little bit disappointed though because initially I had roughly 50 requests and now only 5 have verified that they want one.

If any of you want one or know anyone that might want one, please let me know. I prefer paypal payments for the safety of everybody but money orders will work too.

The cost is 27 dollars per book. There are around 210 or so recipes and 230 pages so they have a LOT of stuff in them!
