This is an undercover video called 'Meet your meat' ... its heartbreaking!

Oh... it moved me....

Now I want to go up to the corner coffee house... and order a double Big Boss burger... that's about two 1/2 pound hamburger patties.... with some cheese.. and add a bit of bacon....

and maybe some kind of side of chicken...

Yum!

When humans are treated perfectly, then I might actually give a flying #### about food animals.

:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

yea i think sometimes people worry more about how we treat animals rather how we treat another human beings..

The reason some of us compasionate, caring people who have a heart care about animals so much and their welfare is because animals dont have a voice, humans do! If we didnt have a voice for the poor, innocent, defenceless animals then who would!!!

On a side note after reading all the posts on this topic I can not believe how many people are so sick in the head and how many heartless, sarcastic comments have been written about going to grab a burger and stuff. Even if you eat meat, and i agree, you are never going to stop humans from eating meat, if you had any kind of heart or compassion you would have commented that "yes, the treatment of these animals is awful and no creature should have to suffer like that but i will still eat meat as I enjoy it." What a sad sad world we live in when so many people think they are better than anyone or anything else and they think that just because we are humans we can do whatever we like to animals. At the end of the day we are all gods creatures and no creature is better than the other!

I think you take too seriously random comments on a Public Internet board. Just because someone posts a inflammotory message on VJ does not make them "sick in the head" or "heartless". Take those insults with a grain of salt.

Compassionate caring people... have you helped the homeless lately? Do you send money to these charites helping to cloth, medicate, and feed these deprived kids in other countries? So you don't like that I could give a toss about what PETA has to say... deal with it. I have to deal with people not liking what I have to say :-)

If you want to bring god into this, then let's do that... I'll assume that the bible is true for this one. god created us. he created us as omnivores... so we could eat plants and animals. BTW, plants are alive as well. Maybe someone should start the PETP - people for ethical treatment of plants!. The bible even goes into saying what animals to eat or not eat. Forgive me here, but how do yoiu think gods people killed their food back then? I don't think stun bolts or 22 handguns were around then. Maybe they prayed over the animals and the lord had the animal fall over dead. Take your bible out and read Genesis Chapter 1... God gave Dominion over the fish of the sea (which PETA doesn't want you to eat.. cause fish feel them hooks as well!) and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And he saw all that he had done, and behold, it was good. So... I'm just doing what I was instructed to do by the bible.. eat tasty animals :-)

On a side note... My son and myself went to the coffee house and he enjoyed a Big Boss burger, with bacon, and some of those plants things - he's just killing everything! I had the double boss burger... though with nothing plant like besides ketchup and potatos (fries!). I thought about that video as I enjoyed my nice tasty cow/pig sandwich. And I realized something - maybe PETA should stand for... People Eating Tasty Animals!

On a serious note - PETA supposedly found a place that may not treat the animals there with great compassion. Doesn't mean every slaughter house or farm does that. I could probably go out and film all kinds of things, doens't mean it's an every day occurance. And I hate to say it, but I wouldn't put it past PETA to stage these kinds of things to try and move their cause along.

Oh come on girl.

You're right there is a place on this earth for all of God's creatures...right here on my plate beside the peas and mashed potatoes  Sorry, couldn't resist.

But listen, animals are BRED for the purpose of eating. That video, as far as i'm concerned, did not depict the NORM. It's PETA propaganda, so of course they are going to show you the opposite extreme! As I said in my previous post...most farmers know that if you want to be eating QUALITY meat that isn't tough ####### then you better be taking care of that meat you plan on putting in your freezer.

And you know what? I'm very sorry to tell you this, but I DO rate myself better than animals. We're the ones who makes sure that our steer and cows are properly taken care of, fed right and treated right...hell WE are doing all the work in making sure these cattle are comfortable. Compared to if they were living in the wild to fend on their own, on the farm they live the life of Riley!

Yes, we end up eating the steer but they are BRED for that PURPOSE.

Yes, we end up eating the steer but they are BRED for that PURPOSE.

But they didn't evolve enitirely for that purpose. Thier entire purpose for being is not to sit in small pieces on your plate.

As for everyone saying we evolved with the abilites to eat meat, yes we did, but we're now way past the stage where we need to eat meat, so some of us choose not, or to limit that intake because of a conscientious decision.

There's a lot of people seem to be unwilling to try alternatives or substitutes. I like the taste of meat, I ate enough of it growing up in a house where my dad was an ex-butcher to know that, but I DON'T like the idea of a large (or small) mammal going through undue suffering to feed me.

So I stopped.

Personally, I'm not suggesting that if you genuinely don't give a f**k (like some of the people here with their petty and juvenile comments) to stop eating meat, if that's the case, fine, you're a ####, but if you do have a heart, and your view and sense of compassion extends to beyond your own stomach there ARE other options.

It's not a case of wrong or right, it's a case of providing an alternative. We can, be omnivorous, but we can also choose a different path.
yeah.. but neither alternative is right or wrong.. and i mean.. cmon.. even meat omnivours eat veggies.. sometimes i think veggies think that we wake up and eat a freakin porkchop or just steaks all day.. i love veggies, i eat them, dude i eat tons of fruit.. so.. i think veggies exaggerate regarding to meat

You're not really that dense are you?

Are you?

Can someone be that dense!?

Big meanie.

I am sure PETA has done some good when it come to animals!!!! PETA came to Montgomery last year and stood outside a elementary school dress like cow with fake blood draining from the neck. When the kids saw this they started to cry and scream. Kids that young doesn't need to be exposed to that. According to a PETA Spokeperson, they want kids to understand when they go to McDonalds, Wendys, Burger King and other resturants the meat they were eating came from a cattle they bleed to death. #######!!!!
That PETA spokesperson is an IDIOT! And all the others involved in the propaganda should be beaten with a stick for exposing these kids to such useless #######!
That video, as far as i'm concerned, did not depict the NORM. It's PETA propaganda, so of course they are going to show you the opposite extreme!
Exactly!

PETA is just one of those fanatic extremist organizations that we happen to have around this place. They're much like the extreme Green freaks that come up with slogans like: We don't need Nuclear Power! There's plenty coming out of that socket in the wall already!

Wish those people would spend their energy on real issues i/o misleading the public the way they do.

Oops, gotta go. The breakfast bacon is getting too crisp. :P

I've got to take offense to that (not that you really give a ######, judging by your comment), but I am one of those nuts who believe in evolution. There is not a viable alternative to that.

OK... someone show me an objective study from a third party that shows that the atrocities shown in this video is the norm.... then I MIGHT consider NOT eating meat.

Well, if you had half a heart, you'd quit encouraging all of us to eat only veggies. If we collectively followed your advice and did that, what the heck would be left for those poor animals to eat? They fcuking starve to death. :hehe:

As the article I posted shows, that manner is the most humane and as the tests proved, it is the least painful for the animal.

i wonder if anyone asked the cow for its thoughts on that.....

so eat meat and be a ####. or be compassionate and be a vegetarian. nice distinction there

UBER-PWNAGE

again.. I don't see a deep side of this, a cow is born to be eaten, period.. I don't think they feel bad they couldn't achieve something better in life, cuz they dont think!! so.. well.. I agree.. it doesn't justify to treat them 'inhuman'.. but, sadly or happily, a cow, is bred, to be eaten in a burger or a steak, and actually good farms really invest a lot of time taking care of the animals

"Thier entire purpose for being is not to sit in small pieces on your plate"

cmon triaxom,, I think u are going too deep trying to find out a cow's life purpose.. ffs its a damn farm animal.. I don't think they evolve to give us the definition of life or some important thing, or that a cow life's can be trascendend in a philosophical plane... bred animals are born for one purpose, and that is to serve humans.. humans invest a lot of care, money and time in their correct growth, being a racing horse, a bull for a bullfight (which actually these bulls live like kings), or farm cows, which purpose is to give cattle, give us milk, and ultimately milk.. yes.. thats their purpose, I don't think a cow wants to know the meaning of life or 'why are we here'..

here's a lil pro's/con's list ...

Advantages:

v2e8.gif By following a vegetarian diet, you are most likely to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. These are essential to good health.

v2e8.gif By avoiding all sources of red meat, you will not have to worry about eating too much red meat and raising your bad cholesterol levels.

v2e8.gif Protein, which is found in red meat, and which is also necessary for the healthy maintenance of the human body can also be found in nuts, seeds, tofu, veggie burgers, and grains. You can get all of the nutrients and vitamins you need on a vegetarian diet.

Disadvantages:

burger.gif By following the idea that animals have rights and therefore we should not use any animal products or by-products, then vegetarians should not drink alcoholic beverages as some of them are clarified by using animals ingredients. They must watch for whey and emulsifiers in chocolate.

burger.gifBiscuits and pie crusts are likely to be made using animal fat, so they should also be avoided. They cannot eat any type of gravy. They may not be able to eat noodles, pasta, pastries, cakes, pies, and the like. Vegetarians cannot use soap and body cleansers because they are likely to contain animal fats.

burger.gifVegetarians should not eat off of bone china dinnerware or use utensils that have bone handles. Vegetarians should not wear any type of leather shoes, belts, coats or jackets, nor carry leather billfolds, purses, luggage, or cases.

burger.gifThey cannot eat anything that contains gelatin. They should avoid vitamin or medicine capsules as most are made with gelatin. They cannot use cameras because the film is made from gelatin.

burger.gifThey should not use paint brushes as well as other brushes unless they are made with synthetic fibers as most brushes are camel hair or other. They cannot wear cashmere clothing, nor wool, nor mohair, nor can they use felt. Vegetarians cannot use down-filled pillows or bedding.

burger.gifThey cannot chew certain types of gum because the gum contains animal glycerin. Toothpaste has to be bought specially as many toothpastes contain glycerin. They should not use any type of hand or body lotion which contains lanolin (sheep).

burger.gifThey must buy their pets special dog and cat food and not use most of the store brands because they contain meat and meat by products.

This is just a partial listing of what vegetarians cannot eat or use. There are hundred of other restrictions to add to this list. phewwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!

I'm sorry I offended you. Perhaps the use of the word "nuts" was uncalled for.

The viable alternative to that line of thought is that everything was created by a higher power and that we're not just here as some happy accident. ;)

I believe animals and plants were put on this earth for our use. However I also believe you should not take more than what you need and the animal should not be wasted (such as killing animals only for their fur). If we were lucky enough to have a farm, we'd have nothing but fresh, untainted meat. See how the native americans lived before the white man came and f'ed up the continent.

The human digestive system CAN digest meat, so I don't see how people can think that we are not meant to eat meat. We are also meant to eat vegetables and fruit, so stock up on those too.

and layla, i accept your apology. thanks for clarifying, i appreciate it.
