Please help clarify for us how your figuring the dates here?

The USCIS website states as of August 31, 2008 & goes on to list a 6 month backlog date. Is that 6 months from August 31, 2008 or 6 months from 10/20/08?

From the posting it looks like 6 months from the August 31, 2008 date which would mean they are still in February? Werent they working up to Feb 1, 2008 last month? Cant make heads or tails of this at all ...

VSC needs to stop playing with peoples emotions & patience and just list the actual dates they are working on for

I-129F's like they have for the I-130's.

The only thing I can make out (if the dates are accurate) - is that our I-130 has NOW caught up to our I-129F! Wasn't the I-129F designed tobe a speedier process? So much for that ...

Sorry, trying to stay positive but just frustrated ...

How about those new processing time on VSC, If nothing else is a good news this bait might brighten up your day  .

now now, these people are freakin smart....they are posting feb 2008 numbers as of August 2008. what does that mean...they think people are stupid. they are still covering these butts. we all know that there are still tons of feb filers from february who are still waiting. how can they possible post feb dates.

The six months only refers to the I-129 NOA Date. This means that if your I-129 date is before April 20th, you are outside the processing time. Or if your I130 date is before the posted February 26th date.

I called the USCIS hotline using the options listed in a previous post which connects you to Vermont Service Center. I was connected to a lady who identified herself as "Officer Norma". She looked up my information and confirmed that my case was 30 days outside of the processing window (it's actually 25, but she said that was close enough). She also confirmed that I hadn't received an RFE and that there was no activity on the case in the last 60 days. Because of these things, she told me to call back and file an expedite. Didn't make any sense to me... but at this point, if someone told me to do the hokey pokey I would try it.

So I called back to the 1-800 number and pressed some options that indicated I believed I was outside of the normal processing time. I was connected with Agent Jeff who again looked up my information. I told him what "Officer Norma" told me and he rattled off a list of reasons for an expedite. He took my information and filed a service request for the expedite. He told me that I should hear something within 5 days.

From the other end, I spoke with the representative at my Congresswomans office. She tells me that the processing time for the I-129 is Feb 1st. I have to literally beg her to open a web browser and see that the processing date was updated. She then tells me that ... they just updated the date so give them some time! #######!!! Seven months isn't enough time?? She said that they told her that my case was assigned to someone and to call back within a week.

Some of this should make me feel better... but I simply feel deflated at this point. Sorry to vent...

To answer your question, I already went down this road last month, when they reporting February 1, but the report was as of JULY 31. I tried to explain to four different USCIS agents at the national center that equalled 6 months, and they all say the same thing - no, that they do not factor the time of the report in. Don't waste your energy on this.

Bottom line is, I am at 6 1/2 months (NOA 1 for me is 4/4), and I still cant get them to take action, because 30 days have not passed since the "six month" horizon. As I mentioned in an earlier message, it's not really six months, it's seven, that you have to wait before you can request an inquiry. Again, I tried today with reps both at the national center and VSC to take action on the case (e.g. file a request for status), and they said no, you have to wait two more weeks.

Beautiful. By the time I can call, they will move the processing dates again. There are tons of people who are in my boat or worse in terms of time. I feel sorry for all of these Feb. and early March filers who are still waiting. It's crazy.

I just called and a nice lady told me both my applications are within the processing times but that they will be updating the website biweekly and advice me to call in two weeks to put a service request for me if I didn't get any approval. she said that I should get approved soon but if it doesn't happen in two weeks to call back and ask for a service request.

One more thing to add tell them the exact day you mailed your application she asked me for my zipcode and told me i send out my application feb 26 so they will go by that and not by the NOA 1 Date

I don't care which way people look at the recent update of processing times on the USCIS site, they are indeed very positive news. I think the next few days will speak for themselves.

I agree its positive news, as long as the date doesn't get changed again in the next couple of weeks and moved back, which can happen and has happened recently. It's also positive news if something actually comes from this. I'd rate it somewhere between "better than nothing" and "something to get excited about". As the old saying goes, "action talks, BS walks."

yes lets be positive about it and take this as a good sign.

I just called the 800 number again and spoke to another woman, she basically told me the same thing about not being able to put in a service request, she then told me to hold on while she transferred me to an officer. I spoke to the officer who put me on hold like 20 times and kept asking me if I was sure I didn't cancel the petition (umm yeah I think I would have remembered doing that) then finally he put in the service request! So now I have to wait 30-45 days for a response from vsc.

02/9/09: Sent I-130 package through USPS next day delivery

02/10/09: Package received at the Chicago lockbox

02/17/09:NOA1

02/19/09: Money order cashed

03/04/09: Touched

03/27/09: Touched

03/30/09: Touched

05/05/09: NOA 2

What doesn't kill me, makes me stronger!!

I just spoke to a nice lady, however, she wasn't able to provide anything additional to what we all already know. Regarding which gets processed if you have filed I-130 and I-129F, she said there is no rule and we go by the date that comes up next. LAst month, I decided not to call these people, but now I see the dead end for my patience.
