I didn't even know brother almaty was in IN.... I took him for a commie MA type  I was mistaken.

Awesome! I actually miss going to the poll...Washington State has mail-in ballots.

It does? How come Bren has not gotten his then yet?

Illinois....sister...the Land of Lincoln.//Obama....and Mosley-Braun./.(oh well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad)

Yes, Lincoln...an amazing Republican. ;)

I am not sure if there is early voting here. I might just go on Election day since it's exciting that way, and there are never lines when I go during the day. There probably is hardly a line after work hours too.

Actually the past few days I have been having voting issues. Sujeet, the king of "you should vote since you have that right" is now saying "don't vote, don't show that you support the top two candidates if you really don't like either of them enough" after both of us have become disappointed with McCain things...hmmm. Well I think I'll still vote McCain and I won't vote Obama, but geez this isn't fun. There were a bunch of names on the sample ballot we all got a couple days ago. I looked up all of them, most I've never heard of. I get tempted to pick one of them. I probably won't though. As you can see, this has gotten harder for me recently.

Ironic only in name, sister Stina. Lincoln Republicans were more akin to modern Democrats.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I just feel torn. I mostly feel like I will still vote McCain...but this stinks.

Why are you torn???? McCain is running a pretty typical GOP campaign, what's the problem?

I agree with a lot of his stances on a lot of things in general. I don't like his VP choice and maybe I am having problems with peoples' personalities who are running rather than problems with some of the views. I think every campaign gets ugly and not only the GOP does that.

I'm surprised how interested my husband has become in the political process. Before he arrived, he saw no point in voting. Now, he watches every debate and encourages everyone he meets to vote. He also asks them who they're voting for.

up-date on my county...

EDWARDSVILLE - Despite some complaining Tuesday about long lines and limited parking at early polling places, County Clerk Mark Von Nida said it's not all bad.

He said the crowds gave him an indication of where improvements need to be made to encourage people to keep coming. He was out watching as people were coming in to vote and said he has a handle on where the problems lie.

He said he was surprised about the huge number of people, 2,100, who voted Tuesday in Madison County, the first day for early voting. That indicates a likely high turnout for the election in general and on Nov. 4.

"That's an unbelievable number. That's our biggest early voting turnout ever. Our biggest day before that was 500," Von Nida said.

He said the turnouts at Alton City Hall and at Godfrey Village Hall accounted for a large portion of the early voting. "There were 450 between the two of them," he said.

My husband voted early in Madison county in IL too today at the college campus, he even got a t-shirt that says "Nah nah nah nah na I voted early"- I'm not even joking. They have voting booths in college campuses to get the students involved which I think is a great idea
