i am the intending immigrant and my wife must fill out that I-864 as the petitioner.

She never had a tax return though, making maybe $300 in the year of 2007!

Does she HAVE to be filling out that I-864?

Thank you very much!

Yes, she needs to...(I'm in a similar situation). Since she doesn't have any income you will need a joint sponsor.. btw, she has to submit proof that she was not required to file taxes (don't know what is acceptable proof)

probably an affadavit sworn before a notary stating that she did not meet the income requirements for filing, including her SSN and a report of income from the years in question would suffice. did this person receive earned income credit? if so, that should also be noted in the affadavit.

I'd like to live where you guys do.

Me too.

Now, if she has liquid assets that meet the requirements, she may not need a sponsor. If she does not, this sort of scares me.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Liquid? How much would be sufficient?

$5 of assets replaces $1 in income is the rule of thumb

YMMV
