RIALTO, Calif. — Police in Rialto say an 8-year-old girl has been found hanged in her bedroom and investigators are trying to determine if it was suicide or an accident.

Lt. Joe Cirilo says a frantic 911 call sent officers to a home shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday. The girl's body was found hanging from the top of a bunk bed with a belt around her neck.

Cirilo says the girl was last seen alive less than an hour earlier, doing homework in her room. Her grandmother, who was her legal guardian, became concerned when the girl didn't respond.

The door was locked, so family members jimmied it open and found the body.

Cirilo says there's no sign of foul play. Officers checked the girl's computer, cell phone and text messages but didn't find a suicide note or any indication she was considering taking her life.

If the door was locked and she hanged herself with a belt, it probably was not an accident. How sad though that an 8 year old might take their own life. I didn't even know about hanging myself at that age or what it was.

sad..i had a client whose brother hung himself in the closet ..the brother was 9 and the client found him./.he was 16...never got over it....still to this day..he has the guilt..as will the family.

.i assume it was suicide

That is very sad.

An 8 year old with a computer and a cell phone and texting? Hmmm... that's a 2nd or 3rd grader...

News like this makes me wonder if one charitable smile from a stranger, or a hug from a friend, teacher, brother, parent...would have prevented such a tragedy. :(

Oh man, that is sooo terrible. It sounds like something was not right because an 8 year-old should not know how to do these type of things. :(

What about all the other kids that will die today. Are they not newsworthy too?

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed.
