Man ate wife's passport

A Russian man is facing jail after he ate his ex-wife's passport during a row.

Police in Nizhny Novgorod arrested Ivan Volokov, 31, after he tore up ex-wife Anna's passport and then ate all the pieces.

A police spokesman said: "They had just got divorced but the couple remained living in the same flat.

"He wanted to destroy the passport as it was the woman's only official document which proved she had the right to stay living in the house."

Volokov has been charged with destroying official documents and threatening behaviour.

My ex stole my passport - not sure what he aimed to achieve though, seeing as one can easily get a replacement...

In Russia your ownership right to an apartment is stamped in your passport. You can get a replacement but it will be hard to get a stamp back. What the guy was thinking is that no passport > no stamp > wife can no longer live in an apartment with him > whole apartment to him without court.

Crazy, huh?!

:), I understood your post, and the destruction of that particular passport made some sense, if not a lot as he's now been charged for the offence. My post related to my personal experience, which is inexplicable because there was no value in what my ex did, all he achieved was some minor inconvenience.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

hahahaha thats crazy! Should I get a non-chewable passport then...to be sure my husband won't even attempt to eat it LOL that's one of a kind story but I feel bad for the wife. She should have an x-ray of her husband's tummy...so she'll have proof to show when somebody ask for her passport. (toinkz) :bonk:
