We've overextended ourselves...it's time to roll it all back in and take care of ourselves for a while instead of taking care of everyone else.

That would be something to tell these politicians that currently run the country (Executive and Congress, namely). They're a bit more interested in getting money from the rich and spying on the terrorist U.S. citizens than taking care of the country as as whole and actually improving things. So it will basically get worse and worse until people figure it out.. maybe.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Who's Cheney?

Cheney was a prominent member of the National Energy Policy Development Group (NEPDG),[69] commonly known as the Energy task force, which comprised energy industry representatives, including several Enron executives. After the Enron scandal, critics accused the Bush administration of improper political and business ties. In July 2003, the Supreme Court ruled that the Department of Commerce must disclose NEPDG documents, containing references to companies that had made agreements with Saddam Hussein to develop Iraq's oil.[70]

On October 18, 2005, The Washington Post reported that the vice president's office was central to the investigation of the Valerie Plame CIA leak scandal, for Cheney's former chief of staff,

lewis "Scooter" Libby, was one of the figures under investigation.[77] On March 6, 2007, Libby was convicted on four felony counts for obstruction of justice, perjury, and making false statements to federal investigators.[78] Libby resigned from his positions as Cheney's chief of staff and assistant on national security affairs after his indictment in 2005. The National Journal reported that Libby had stated before a grand jury that his superiors, including Vice President Cheney, had authorized him to disclose classified information to the press regarding Iraq's weapons intelligence on February 9, 2006.[79

The articles described Cheney's influence on decisions pertaining to detention of suspected terrorists and the legal limits that apply to their questioning, especially what constitutes torture.[96] They characterized Cheney as having the strongest influence within the administration in shaping budget and tax policy in a manner that assures conservative orthodoxy.[97] They also highlighted Cheneys behind-the-scenes influence on the administration environmental policy to ease pollution controls for power plants, facilitate the disposal of nuclear waste, open access to federal timber resources, and avoid federal constraints on greenhouse gas emissions, among other issues. The articles characterized his approach to policy formulation as favoring business over the environment

I agree with most of what he says. The U.S. needs to mind its own ###### business and let Europe pick up a lot of the costs of running the world for a while. Let's see how it goes.

I can agree that we need to withdraw all troops all over the world and bring them home. The sooner the better.

Fine, let Europe and the rest of the world defend themselves with their own troops and their own money.

We can quit funding the UN also.

On the OP article - Ahmadinejad is only saying the things that appeal to the hardline elements that form the base of his support. Of course - we aren't in a terribly good position at the moment, so doubtless the perception of weakness is where these claims arise from.

The Iraq war was pretty much a win-win for Iran. The removal of Saddam's irreligious government now means that the Al Sadr's of the country now have a voice in government, plus drawing out the ground war in Iraq has bled the US of staggering amounts of money (on top of which we have a larger economic crisis resulting from the sub-prime fiasco).

It wouldn't be particularly good for the US if the UN was done away with. We'd be back in the same position that the world was in at the turn on the 20th century.

Which is perfectly OK according to some lines of thought. (Usually the ones more involved in or defending the profiteering from the misery of others- directly or indirectly.)

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
