Time to clear immigration with K1 visa

I am looking at flights for for my fiancee to come over now that she has recieved her visa. Does any one know how much time she will need to clear immigration at the port of entry? I ask because we want to make sure we have enough layover time between flights.

She is flying in to Newark Airport.

I found getting through the immigration easy It took all of 2-3 mins to look at my paper work and stamp my passport, BUT waiting in the line to get to immigration was over 2 hrs. However I did fly after bomb threats 2 yrs ago and the sercurity was extra high. My advice for what its worth is make sure you have plenty of time between flights (if you have another flight to catch) you never know what is going to happen.

It depends on the airport and day of the week. Some people can take only 15 minutes to process, others can take up to 3-4 hours. The best thing is try not to fly on a weekend because it will be hectic.

Diana is correct. The usual recommendation here is to allow 3 hours between connecting flights, preferably 4 hours. Much depends on how many flights are arriving at the same time, how many people were still in line for processing before those flights landed and the passengers deplaned, the staffing levels at the Customs & Immigration unit, and so forth. Also, any New York-area airport will routinely experience air-traffic delays, so the airline's published time of arrival should be viewed as approximate.

Yes, three hours minimum and four to be safe. Then she might be through the POE twenty minutes after deplaning or running to catch her connecting flight even with a "scheduled" four hour layover.

When Darren arrived here (JFK), he had 4 1/2 hours between flights. He was at the beginning of the line, so his processing took all of five minutes. But I agree with all the previous posters; allow more time than you need to catch your connecting flight.
