my fiancee just crossed yesterday, but there is a big problem. when he was crossing they asked him all the usual stuff "what he was going for" "how we met" but then they asked "are you engaged?" and the blockhead said "NO" for some reason.

after i told him (under the advice of everybody here) he musn't EVER lie to a border guard.

i just know we're going to be denied. what should we do?

Spank him severely and tell him never to do this again. Then hope nothing comes of it. It's unlikely anything will.

A Warning to Green Card Holders About Voting

Honestly IS always the best policy when it comes to USCIS and the borders, but now that the incident is over, there's not much you can do about it.

When I would come down from Canada to see my fiance (husband now), I would never volunteer any information, but if I was asked a direct question, I always told the truth. I was asked on one of my trips if I had ever heard of the Fiance Visa.... I told him that I had, and that we were just awaiting our approval. I said the purpose of my trip was just a "visit" and I was allowed in.

Make sure your fiance always has proof of ties to Canada, such as lease/mortgage documents, most recent pay stub, etc. to prove that he will be returning to Canada after his visit.

They let him through...he's not going to be denied his K-1 visa based on that! Tell him not to lie to Border officials anymore though! See raymaga's post.

The deny, deny, deny posting was said in jest.

Ha.......very funny answer.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

your reply definitely put my mind at ease. it did cross my mind that if there was notice of the k-1 in the computer and he lied they probably wouldn't let him cross. but you just never know and i'm a worrier. thank you!

...and for all those that were wondering- he was spanked. summarily.
