Slashed Funding for Teen Moms? Good. The parents should foot the bill.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

I agree. She should come out and adamantly demand that as well.

Technically to reduce teen pregnancy is through education.

If it's a social problem, it'll never be 100% fixed. There's a need to adapt and assimilate whatever happens, happens!

Uhhhh, there is a solution:

Well abstinance is Palin's solution.

Palin reduced funding for Covenant House Alaska by more than 20 percent, cutting funds from $5 million to $3.9 million. Covenant House is a mix of programs and shelters for troubled youths, including Passage House, which is a transitional home for teenage mothers.

It's not solely for 'cutting programs for teen moms' ....it's to Covenant House as a whole. So that just shows the slant in this article.

And there needs to be more facts involved instead of being kinda disingenuous.

I have a 17 year old to whom I have taught abstinence. Shockingly enough, even given my mistakes, he values the idea of sex being saved for the person you intend to spend the rest of your life with. Perhaps, as naysayers tell me, that will go out the window when he goes to college, but at least I've tried.

I don't think I'm prepared to judge Palin's choice to cut funding on this without having some more concrete numbers as to what the budget was for this place in comparison to other such shelters. I don't think cutting state funding for this means she's an evil hypocrite.

OMG what is my problem? Am I becoming conservative?!

It is a solution, but I think as a parent if you can get abstinence to work you are just dang lucky. I'm all for teaching kids about birth control frankly.
