Nearly 600 detained in the largest workplace raid, Is immigration finally doing it's job ?

There are 400 -500 thousand illegal aliens just in the city of Houston alone. ICE has it's work cut out for them.

ICE can only do what the elected politicians let them do. Laws are no good if they are passed to pacify the public with no intention of ever being enforced. That has been the case too long, but the public is weary of 20+ years of lies and promises.

When 12-15% of my city's population is made up of illegal aliens...somebody clearly is not doing their job.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Who cares? People don't get jobs based on ethnicity. People don't get housing based on skin color. The list goes on and on, it changes absolutely nothing. :bonk:

Some of them have already been let go for humanitarian reasons - read, they have children. Wouldn't you have kids too if it allowed you to break the law and be excused for it? Why didn't I think of that?

They are called "anchor babies" for a reason. BTW...even though illegal aliens are 12 - 15% of the Houston population...they account for 2/3 of the births in the public hospitals.

wrong. ever heard of affirmative action?

The term affirmative action describes policies aimed at a historically socio-politically non-dominant group (typically, minority men or women of all racial groups) intended to promote its access to education or employment

care to try again?

I do not condone illegals, my husband was one, but I still think that is is wrong. But what makes me upset is the assumption that only Mexican people are illegal. There may be a white person next to you on the bus and they are an illegal from Russia, but we don't take a second look because they look like us.
