I was reading the forums here and saw some talk that co-sponsors are no longer allowed... can someone clarify if this is true, I will be at the warsaw Poland embassy.

Secondly, do my cosponsors need to prove their citizenship, if so then what is the best way to prove it. My co-sponsor was not us born and has received citizenship many years ago. What can he include if this is needed. Or will his most recent year simple tax return be sufficient?

masternatedawg,

Every embassy is NOT the same. One embassy may allow a co-sponsor, while another may not.

I am assuming you are referring to the talk about the US embassy in Bangkok not allowing co-sponsors anymore. It is unknown whether or not this is true right now. My fiance just received her visa with me using a co-sponsor a month ago, and there has been no notification of any changes to their policy regarding co-sponsors in the past month. That doesn't mean they are required to notify people of this change, although I assume they would.

Yes that's what I'm referring to. I'll just have to hope that warsaw embassy didn't change any rules.

Still curious about my second question, about co-sponsor proving citizenship or not.

Yes, they need to show evidence of citizenship. A copy of their US passport will do nicely.

Alright, will they need to show every page of the passport like I did for my petition, or will the 2 pages with the actual info be sufficient. Thanks

You can "hope" that the embassy didn't change the rules, OR you could find out by asking people who have specifically been through that embassy recently. Do a search of people who have received visas/are in the process of trying to receive a visa through your embassy and ask them. Like I told you before, every embassy is not the same.

OR you can email the embassy... f

Believe me when I say that if USCIS no longer accepts co sponsors in general everyone will know about it.

COs may deny a co sponsor but not because of them just being a co sponsor but because the co sponsor didn't meet the requirements!!

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

People who "meet the requirements" are often denied. When it comes to the financials, the CO makes a subjective decision about the likelyhood the applicant will become a public charge. An 85 year old grandpa drawing Social Security can meet the 125% of poverty level but that doesn't mean his I-134 as a co-sponsor is going to convince a CO a burger flipper's foreign fiance with few English or work skills won't become a public charge.

The biggest mistake I see, is people thinking the visa process is about meeting some prescribed list of requirements.

Amen...

It's very subjective.

I guess it all depends on the Country where its filed? Because we had Co sponsor, he is a USA resident not a citizen, and we had no problem with it.
