This is a lesson for tourist.

When traveling to another land other the US, adapt and wear attire that are close to the locals.

In my new gfs barrio, I hear its common to have groups of young men hold others up at knife-point, demanding their shoes, shirts, jeans, etc. if they are nice, and look new. Definitely heed this advice. Keep your camera tucked away. Don't pull out your cell phone unless its necessary. Watch yo back! :(

True. That's called not giving 'papaya' more than is necessary.

Otherwise you may find yourself literally naked on the streets. Barranquilla maybe not so much of a problem but cooler Bogotá will definitely not be that fun.

This would have never happened to them in Australia.

probably because they'd be too busy dodging jackjumpers, a majority of the top ten poisonous snakes and spiders, cane toads and kangaroos :P

Don't forget box jellies and great whites out in the water.

oh yeah, them too. can't leave them out. i just saw a special on them on tv this weekend. them are some nasty scary critters

Wow, Australia sounds frightening.

i'd say aussies have the right to be in a bad mood with all them scary critters around.

Wow, Australia sounds frightening.

Certainly hazardous to one's health.

Aw guys... don't tell me you're scaaaaaaared!

Personally, I'm dying to go there.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

This is so sad and crazy. I'm originally from Guatemala and experienced a similar incident in 1990 coming back with my wife and 2 kids from Lake Izabal to Guatemala city while riding in a tourist bus. Fortunately they didn't harm us physically but took some of our possesions.

We are currenlty building houses in Antigua Guatemala and planning to move there temporarily by the middle of 2009, keeping our existing house here in San Antonio, Texas just in case to be able to go back and forth when we wish. My new Egyptian wife visited Guatemala with me last december and fell in love with the incredible beauty of the country, the latin family values and friendliness of people from Guatemala.

I know it is a risky move, but the reality is that this incident can happen anywhere in the world, there is really no completely safe place to live anymore. It is a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

A .22 beats a machete... I don't think it can do that much to a Saltwater Croc though unless you are a super marksman.

Not one person in this topic has prayed for that poor old woman who is now a widow. Shame on you folks! May she find peace in her terrible awakening and sadness of losing her husband. Sick. These unfortunate crimes happens ALL the time ALL around the world.

a sad story....

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
