Yes he passsed the written test, he needs to take the road test but the learners permit has a regular expiration date for 2013, but in red on top of his name its says exp 7/28/08 i think meaning the visa?

i wonder now if with that he can go take his 5 hr class and then take the test!!!

No, the correct answer is indeed C9. A6 would be useless. It would only be valid for as long as the I-94 is valid. By the time your I-765 is processed, your I-94 may have expired and you would have wasted your time. The C9 category will be good for 1 year. C9 is for anyone applying to adjust status or register permanent residence. That is you if you came on a K-1, got married, and are not adjusting status to obtain a green card. You are doing AOS at the same time right? A6 is equivalant to the EAD stamp some get at the POE (valid for the life of the I-94), and if you file for EAD without filing for AOS (under category A6), it will cost you $340.

Right. And, if you don't do it like that, it's a huge headache. Believe me, I remember. Had to refile paperwork and pay more money.

6/13/08 Applied for SSN for David ----- TRIP 1; 6/23/08 Went back to SSA 'cuz the person didn't pc all documents (rec'd letter from them) ----- TRIP 2

7/2/08 Received David's health insurance cards! Yay!

7/3/08 Went back to SSA; they said come back 7/9 if he still hasn't received it ----- TRIP 3

7/8/08 Got list of vaccines he still needed from CS by fax/phone; tested for immunity to MMR (only vaccine still needed) at our family dr

7/9 & 7/10/08 Went back to SSA, card still not received - Denied opportunity to apply for replacement ----- TRIP 4; Went back to SSA again to apply for a replacement card - Talked to a supervisor this time, POE people entered his last name incorrectly ----- TRIP 5; went to get David's ID thru the State, denied - instructions wrong on website; measles test inconclusive, another test needed; requested new lease

7/14/08 SSA called me in regards to problems at local SSA office

7/15/08 INFOPASS appt to fix POE name input error and then went to airport to fix POE name error

7/17/08 Received SSN card in mail and went to get state ID

7/21/08 State ID received in the mail and tested again for measles immunity

7/29/08 MMR shot #2 given and dropped off papers at Civil Surgeon (CS)

7/31/08 Picked up I-693, completed by local CS, (I paid $25, don't be fooled)

8/3 - 8/6/08 Worked on forms I-485, G-325A, I-864, I-765 and I-131; sent to Chicago - YESSS!

8/11/08 NOA1 for AOS, EAD and AP; 9/2/08 Transfered to CSC; 9/4/08 Biometrics

10/24/08 Rec'd AP; 10/27/08 Rec'd EAD; 11/24/08 Rec'd GC

Visa I 130 for Step Daughter

Sept 2010-- Getting documents ready. sent BC out for translation.

March 1st 2012-- Sent documents to USCIS

June 15th 2012 EMAIL OF APPROVAL !!

Dec 15th 2012 -- Interview scheduled ( 1-23-2013)

Jan 9th 2013--Medical Exam

Aww I just go looked through the I-765 that I passed and I put (a) (6) to it. I filed it concurrently with I-485 and its my first time to aply it also...Now I really have lots of mistakes :crying:

(a )(6 ) = the temp 90 day EAD that expires 90 days after entry to the USA, this EAD costs $340, for K-1 this is a worthless EAD.

Yep it is exactly because of this thread question that's why I sent a correctioin letter for EAD application and they send me a NEW NOA1 for EAD with new receipt number but my first one is still pending..so I hope I didnt messed it up by sending a correciton one..now I have two pending EAD application first one is based on (a)(6) which I realized is a mistake and send another one with now ( c) (9)..I dont know what will happen next :unsure::wacko::blink::blush:

It is worthless for K1 holders, and also only available for K1 and 2 holders.

06-06-2011 - Additional passport pics sent.

06-08-2011 - Evidence received and acknowledged. Whew!

06-16-2011 - NOA2 received!

07-20-2011 - Packet 3 Received!

08-01-2011 - Packet 3 returned to Embassy.

08-22-2011 - Packet 4 Received!

09-19-2011 - Interview...APPROVED!

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

If you're lucky they correct it for you, otherwise they just send it back to you so you need to file again.
