Of course they can...my government isn't letting my family live together either. I have to beg them nicely for my sick daughter to have her father...and I can't return to work because of her health. And we are married.

With all due respect, the government is not keeping you from your family. You chose to marry a foreign national. As much as we don't like the process, it is the government's duty to have immigration procedures in place. I think you'd admit that if people were allowed to just enter the country at the drop of the hat after marrying a USC, there would be a hell of a lot more fraud.

You are definitely trying to compare apples and oranges.

Believe it or not, this law is on the books in a LOT of towns. The town where I went to school (not in the deep south) wouldn't allow for fraternity or sorority houses to exist, as there was a similar law about unrelated people sharing a private home. The reason it was devised and existed in the past to try to deter the existence of houses of prostitution. However, its a completely outdated law, and this example is a huge abuse of it.

First off - if they fought this in court, they would probably win because it's discrimatory.

Second off - yeah, alot of cities/states have these kinds of things still on the books, but not enforced. NC for instance - a man and a woman can not live together like a husband and wife if they are not married. So... Jay's a big law breaker when she visits :-D
