just a qucik question, can we work with a green card and social security number alone, or do you need to get work authorisation beforehand?

The green card and SSN are all you need. The work authorization is just to cover you for part of the time until the green card arrives.

An adjustment of status application might take 1 year or longer, and you are not authorized to work while you wait. If you want to be able to work in the meantime, apply for an EAD, it usually takes about 3 months to get.

You can get temporary work authorization before hand if you choose, but the green card is the permanent work authorization.

YMMV

The $1,010 fee covers the processing for all forms which may include the I-485 for AOS, I-765 for EAD and I-131 for AP.

You also need to fill out your timeline, that way it'll be easier for people to help you.

What visa did you came to the US with? What is your situation. :time:http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/intro.php?cfl=

It usually takes 90 days for AP and EAD. The green card itself is an average of 6-10 months I would say.

Once you file for AOS you can stay in the US until you are approved or denied.

It's better to file for the work authorisation at the same time as AOS so you don't have to pay extra fees for it.

Yes, that's correct. $1010 covers everything, including Advanced Parole in case you need to leave the country temporarily before your AOS, (via sending in a completed I-131 at the same time as the I-485 and I-765 package.) Correct.

It is a big waste of $$$ to file for a K-1 EAD using (a )(6 ) before filing for AOS, this EAD costs $340, and is only valid for 90 days from entry, that is it expires the same time as I-94, and considering that it can take 90 days to approve, you will end up with an invalid card, a card that expires very shortly after getting it, OR USCIS will reject it because they wont be able to approve it in time.

K-1 should always file for EAD with their pending I-485 using code (C )(9 ), or file for it AFTER filing I-485 again C 9, and attach copy of I-485 NOA1 letter. This is a part of I-485 FEE.
