It doesnt hurt to ask the help of your congressman and/or senator however even this influential people dont have as much pull as we thing they would, I have requested assistance several times from both congressman and senator and both received the same responses from the government, which is we just have to wait it out!

IGNORE, I forgot to look at the date of the original post.... I'd love to know how this turned out...

How can ANYONE know what his reason is for doing this? I'm sure he doesn't wear a hat that says what his bias is when he's at work... (check at home...) It could be any number of reasons. Bottomline is whatever his reason it's messed you up BIG TIME and he has NO EXCUSE not to correct HIS ERROR.

Going to the people directly above him, Chief Judge, County Commissioner, State Representative/Senator, i.e. the local authorities he reports to, may be more beneficial than Federal Representatives (Fed. Congressmen, or Senators) who do not have jurisdiction over him. They can only help in issues related to Federal Government Agencies.

If you have a local Immigrant Advocacy Group, which often has lawyers who do "pro bono" (free) work, I"d contact them and tell them what happened and ask for their advice or assistance. Since you are trying to meet USCIS requirements they might be more likely or able to help. I'd definately consider going ahead with the filing of the AOS and like you said, wait for the RFE,. and write a letter of explanation. It would be great if you had a copy of any of the forms or anything to show proof of what has happened.

I'd also send a certified letter with return signature to him outlining the details of what happened and giving him the opportunity to "correct" your version of the facts if he disagrees by replying to you. I'd keep many copies and maybe let him know that if it isn't resolved or he doesn't respond in a week or so you'll send a copy of the letter to the media, and every one else you can think of that can put pressure on him. When is he up for re-election???

I hope you can find an attorney to help you. When you write a letter or communicate with him in any way be sure you are polite but FIRM that this matter needs to be resolved immediately.

I can certainly see why you suspect bias, because his actions are appearing to be vindictive and a bit irrational. When ever people act in a way that is inconsistent with what you would normally expect, you can easily end up asking "what's wrong with me?" And when you are from a "less than welcomed" group, it's normal to suspect this is the source of the problem.

As they say, "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean that they aren't out to get you..."

Good luck and please let us know how this turns out. If you want help finding an organization to advocate for you, let us know where you are, or PM me and I'll do some research.... What you are going through is JUST WRONG.

Update:

The judge who did our ceremony never did fix his error...and our senator said he really didn't have any jurisdiction in this matter. We ended up contacting the cheif judge in our county and he said he would make sure everything was corrected. Still, we ended up submitting the marriage certificate as-is with the error not corrected "correctly" because everyone was moving so slow. Alhamdulillah, it wasn't as big a problem as the service center said it would be. (My husband got his greencard last month.) It sounds like he was just a judge on a power trip.

This judge (and his lovely receptionist) was very rude and unprofessional. If any one is planning on a courthouse ceremony in Hennepin County (Minnesota), choose your judge wisely! ;)

I'm sorry you've had troubles with that judge, it was very unprofessional.

However, nothing in your post says anything about his reasonings so it's impossible to say it's because he dislikes Muslims. In fact, it's quite a ridiculous thing to say.. I can understand you being frustrated but what frustrates other people is when people of certain groups pull out the race or religion card whenever the slightest piece of trouble rolls around. We've had problems too, everyone does.
