More than four months into my wait with the CSC, I happened to look at a copy of my I-129F and noticed I made a typo on my SSN. I don't know how the heck this could happen. I'm the most ####### retentive person you could ever meet and I went over the form a dozen times before I mailed it.

Has anyone else made such a stupid error, and if so, what was your experience? I will call them tomorrow in an attempt to be proactive, but I'm positive they will tell me that they can do nothing and to wait for the RFE, or worse a denial, and then I'll have to resubmit the whole package and go back to the beginning of the 8 month queue. I'm literally worrying myself sick over this tonight.

Don´t be so pessimistic. The USCIS is pretty good about handling little mistakes. Just call and let them know about the problem and they´ll help you fix it.

Relax. I doubt they will deny you over a typo.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

No worries, they would NEVER deny a case for writing down the wrong Social Security Number. Worst thing to happen would be an RFE, which is actually unlikely.

Just give them a call and explain the error. Why would they want to screw you over when you realized there was an error? That just makes their job easier. No worries you are fine.

don't worry Jimmy....I join this site after my SO filed the petition and that when i realised the errors we made. Typo in his date of birth, wrong size passport photo for myself......Well we did get RFE but it was for him to submit passport stamp to show he came to the UK. Bear in mind those stamps were submitted with application

I also wasted 4 months trusting CSC after NOA2. Apparently the good folks at CSC failed to distinguish our I-129F Visa application WITH WITH WITH WITH Visitor Visa my fiance got last year. They thought everything is done after they approved our case...no need to send to NVC as their NOA2 stated...after all all Visa approval look exactly the same.

I am 4 months behind thanks to that eagle eye.

If I were you, I wouldn't waste my time worrying about it, and I wouldn't try to call or do anything at this point. If you call, they won't try to dig your file out of the boxes. Just wait. When they get to your petition, they will either approve it as is or issue an RFE. Responding to the RFE will be the best (and really only) way to correct the error you've identified. Your petition won't be denied because of this.....don't worry about that. BTW, I'm in a somewhat similar situation. I also found a simple (partial) error of omission on one of my forms after I sent it off. I also couldn't believe that I had missed it before. If they catch that and if they think it's important enough, I'm sure that I'll get an RFE. But, I'm not sitting around worrying about it. At this point, all that we can do is wait. Good luck to you!

JMO...... :)

You're not an idiot. You're human. I agree with the others and wouldn't sweat it at all. If...and I think that's a big "IF"...they need clarification then they will send you an RFE. It's not the end of the world. Either way.. you're almost there! Stay positive!

I guess we're on the same boat. After a week of putting it altogether, reviewing it many times even few minutes before my fiance sent it to CSC,It was only recently that i have realized that instead of writing my married name on the question "other names used" i wrote NONE :bonk: now im worried that they might deny our petition because of this stupid mistake :(

Thank you for the comments. I called today and spoke with a customer service representative (short, rude, and not concerned in the least with helping) who instructed me to send the CSC a letter explaining the error.

So I guess I will send the letter and hope for the best. I am contemplating whether or not I should mark the envelope as if I were sending back information for an RFE, or if I should call back using the RFE trick to speak with someone who may provide better information than "Sally script-reader."

I know the *first* thing that happens when dealing with the government is that they will key in my SSN and it will come back with someone who is not me and who's information has nothing in common with my petition. Then that person will stop everything related to my petition and pass it to another department who will verify the SSN doesn't match the petition, then it will be sent to another department to generate an inquiry to yet another department who will send me a letter, and that whole process will likely take 2-4 weeks. I'll receive a notice in the mail a week later and send something back the same day, which will sit in a post office box for another week before it is transferred to the actual facility where it will be moved around for a week before landing in the hands of the person who originally discovered the error, who will put it at the end of his/her current list of things to do and finally my case will be approved 2-4 weeks after that.

Now I'm thinking about what would happen if I were to just drive down to the facility tonight and attempt to physically hand the papers to someone tomorrow asking that they insert it into my file before the whole adjucation/RFE process starts. The parking lot doesn't appear to be a gated, so I could at least make it as far as outside the lobby... where I would probably be greeted by security to escort me off the premises.
