I have a couple of questions:

1. Regarding the I-485 part 3, is the nonimmigrant visa # the extraordinarily long combination of letters and numbers on the page attached to my husband's visa?

and

2. Regarding the I-765, how long should the response to the following be: "On a separate sheet(s) of paper, please explain how you qualify for an advance parole document and what circumstances warrant issuance of advance parole. Include copies of any documents you wish considered." Also, what type of response is necessary?

Thanks!

1- the non immigrant visa # is the red number at the bottom right side of the visa and normally the visa is in one of the passport pages; the number that you mentioned is the I-94 number and you will need it too.

here is a picture that it will help you :

2- i don't really see what are talking about , because the i-765 is for the employment authorization and the advance parole ( application for travel document ) form is the i-131, so if you are talking about the i-131 you just need to explain why do you need this document so you can travel outside the united state while you AOS is pending.

Hope this will help

Hey to all of you July filers! I'm joining the group as another July 2008 AOS filer after a K-3 visa. Our lawyer sent the papers today. A detailed timeline is given below so here I am with fingers crossed, ready for the long ride.

I sent I-485 and I-765 together (no medical required according to the immigrations officer at the local office in Cleveland, where I live). I hope it all goes well. We were lucky to get a K-3 in 5 months without any expedite so I hope luck stays on our side this time too!

How long till the NOA1?

All the best to you, VJers.

Our K-3 timeline

- jan. 12 2008 - Wedding

- feb. 11 2008 - sent I-130 to Chicago lockbox

- march 06 2008 - sent I-129F to CSC

- may 06 - APPROVED

- jun 12 - medical and interview passed! Visa in the passport!!!

- jun 24 - entry in US through Chicago

AOS

- jul 16 2008 - AOS + EAD sent to Chicago lockbox

- jul 28 - NOAs for AOS and EAD

- aug 6 - Bio letter

- aug 11 - RFE e-mail (I-864)

- aug 19 - Biometrics done (they scanned my little fingers maybe 20 times because fingerprints were not clear enough :P )

Thank you God! Just a few more steps..

We filed our AOS paperwork on July 7th. We married on June 20th. Anyhow -- the check was cashed earlier this week, so I anticipate we'll have our NOA1 either end of this week or early next week!

Hi everyone! Another July filer here...mailed the AOS & EAD pkg on July 3rd, NOA1's for both effective July 11th (they received July 7th), check cashed July 14th...hoping to receive the Biometrics letter soon. I've been checking on the timelines & seems like a lot of VJer's are getting NOA2's within a 2 - 2 1/2 month timeframe! Hoping all of us get ours that quickly! Good luck to everyone!

Hi everyone!!

I filed in late June - so I guess I'd consider myself a July filer!!

Quick question Melusine - is it necessary to schedule another medical? I'm getting worried b/c all I sent in was my vaccinations sheet I received from the 1st medical exam we did for the K-1 visa. It had my full vaccination history. Is that enough??

And what happens during the Biometrics appointment? Anyone know? Mine's on July 23rd.

Hello there !

I am starting already a thread for the people who know they will file in July :)

we will marry the 20th of June and the time to get the marriage certificate and all papers ready, we will most probably send it all very early July.

Biometrics is just them taking fingerprints again. Sounds all fancy-shmancy, doesn't it? ;)

I don't know the exact answer but we certainly aren't planning to schedule another medical. Our lawyer didn't mention anything about it -- I know lawyers are not the most popular on this forum but ours has been good so far. I think we'll cross that bridge if we come to it, later.

I have my 3 receipt numbers for my AOS, AP, and EAD, but none of them are pulling up anything on the USCIS website. It keeps telling me

" * Case Status Retrieval Failed

* This Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact the National Customer Service Center."

The number for each looks like this: ABC -11-222-33333

So I am entering it ABC1122233333 as it instructs us not to enter the dashes.

Why isn't it showing up? Shouldn't it at least show that I got my NOA1?

I want to stalk my case online in case something happens to my biometrics notice.
