:help: Ok so i am really confused. Im getting all the stuff for the DS-230 and i was reading that i only need to send in Part 1 to NVC, but now i was reading and it said I need to send Part 1-2 fully completed. But i thought part 2 can only be completed at the interview. And i know the interview comes after i have filed the DS-230. Im filing it for my wife in Japan. we r going through the Naha consulate. :help:

Hey Karl...

I sent in both Part I & II of the DS-230. We completed both parts, but my wife only signed Part I, the instructions said Part II would be signed in front of the CO at the interview. I know there are different guidelines depending on the country, so your case may be different. I am sure there are others who can give you more info, but this is what I did. Right now my AVR says they have received the checklist, and when I speak with a live operator I am told it still being reviewed. I haven't received any RFEs, so I suspect we have done everything correctly. Hope this helps.?.?.?

You send both parts completed, just do not fill anything or sign below the line on part 2.

You are in the proses of applying for a CR-1 IR-1 visa, your profile says AOS pending, that is only if you are "Adjusting Status" from a NON-Immigrant visa.

You may want to correct your profile to filed for: "IR-1/CR-1" visa. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...rCP&CODE=01

maybe your confusion was due to japan switching from standard processing to appointment processing for CR-1/IR-1 visas early this year? I found that pretty confusing and annoying when i was researching information one month and then everything changed on the next month.

We are waiting on our DS-230 packet now and I wan everything to go as smoothly and quickly as possible.

Thanks,

well previously if a person looked up, like in my case, Tokyo Embassy at the state department website, it would show standard processing which means the instructions for you would be to just fill out the DS-230 Part I for the NVC, that's about it. birth, marriage, police certificates and DS230 part II you would bring to the interview. So, the original poster's comments seems to indicate information to the old standard processing for japan. Now with appointment processing all those documents go to the NVC with the DS-230.

This link below has been posted by various people here, this is for appointment processing

hope this helps.

Other VJ members explained the switched of the process early this year from Standard to Appoinment.

Be careful in filling out the form. Ex. Full name in Native Alphabet (If Roman Letters not used). It should appear the way your wifes name in hand written

(Kanji, hiragana or Katakana)

Goodluck.

I'm pretty sure Im doing this right but just for the hell of it,

at this point I have paid the $70 online. It shows "PAID"

I printed out the cover sheet thingy.

They have my wifes Choice of Agent (me)

What's the next step? Send in the packet?

Can I submit any other forms online or is it only the choice of agent form that can be sent online?

Apparently at this point, you should dispatch the AOS form along with all the necessary documents such as your tax returns, pay stubs, letter from the employer etc. Once in the NVC system, they will update the status.

If your wife (who by the way looks lovely with that baby bump) has already emailed NVC the DS-3032 then soon she will receive an email stating that you have been chosen as her agent. I don't think you can email any other forms. Now at this point you can check back on that page where you paid the AOS fee bill and once the IV fee bill is generated, you can pay...and print the cover sheet from there....and dispatch your wife's DS-230 along with all the needed documents.

PLease correct me if I am wrong but this should be it.

All the best! Hope this helps,

Sara.

So i called the NVC and they told me that if the embassy your getting interviewed from is in the same language as you native language. you should not need a translation. but i have been hearing 2 different thing. so i would rather be safe than sorry. better to have them and not need it than to not have it and need it!

hope this is helpful.

Once the AOS Bill entered into NVC system you can go on and send your I-864 package. Once your wife's Choice of Agent letter entered into NVC system they will generate the Immigrant Visa Bill $400 payable online. After you paid the IV Bill, NVC will generate the DS230 so be ready with all documents from your wife or your wife can send it directly to NVC (via FEDEX), takes three days.

Documents to be sent to NVC are DS230 form PartI with signature and PartII w/o sign., Birth Certificate with English translation, Police Clearance, Copy of Passport biographic data and 2 passport photos. (Divorce degree with English translation if any).

Goodluck.
