I don't think it's going to do me any good. She refused to tell me where my case is. She said that they are working on July 30th cases. I told her that i have seen cases approved that were sent in after mine, she said she cannot tell me about those cases only about mine. She seemed irritated that i called. She said that line was for problems only. She said my case had not been reviewed yet though. I really didn't gain anything from that except to speak to an officer who wouldn't help. I think i will try again and see if i get a guy. Guys are usually more help, since i am a female. :innocent:

Did you stress the fact that the 6 months deadline is up and that still nothing has happened. To explain: USCIS says that they will do everything possible in order to get cases approved within 6 months. And even though there is all this back up emphasizing this did help my hubby and I when our 6 months deadline was up in February. We called on the day of the 6 months deadline and just kept on pressing that matter. BUT we were very polite about it while still being persistent that the regulations still apply and that we were very surprised what was going on. About 2 days later we had a touch and about another 2 days later we were approved. But there are no guarantees. And especially we did file after the date that USCIS still has posted on their website.

Exactly when do you start counting the 180 days, the day you send it, or the received date on the receipt from USCIS??????

Thank you,

And of course: this is not the RFE hotline you want to call. It is the normal hotline and then just press 0 until you have an officer on the phone. And of course it doesn't always work. Also, I am not a specialist but it is always worth a try. You count the days from the date that is marked as "date received" on your NOA1. I hope this will help some people to be with their loved ones sooner.

thank God! i didn't get someone rude at USCIS when i called! otherwise my case would have been denied because i tend to be very explosive! LOL the girl that i spoke with had a funny accent but still she was very sweet and even wish me good luck and advise me not to worry about the processing dates that they are not only working and approving july 2007 files but that i could even expect to see my case approved sooner than i'm expecting it. all depends when the file reachs a reviewers desk and how easy or complex is your situation. i have 85 days since i got my first NOA

Paris, I was afraid to call in because I'm only 80something days so I shouldn't be worried YET but I told that lady that I have seen for 3 months already that no progress on processing times and she told me that I wasn't the only one calling regarding this she said that again due to the increase of fees there is a back log in Vermont office and that they must show July 2007 until that gets cleared out, so I told her that I know there is cases before mine so that until I get my approved long time will pass and she said to me that they are not only working on those cases but many adjudicators are working on different dates that not to be surprise if my case gets approved before others that applied earlier than mine.

I guess is just a matter of luck on where they put your file and if it is on their bin of workload for the month.

VSC has caught on about ppl using the RFE line, so either they have u call again without entering your case number or simply give you no information. The countdown starts from the date of receipt by USCIS.. it will reflect on your noa1.

I think the PRE 8/1 world and post 8/1/07 world are 180 degree differences.

They've abandoned that timeline. The don't look into your case and they are more unwilling to even speak to you.

This is yet another example of incorrectly using the RFE trick. If your last updated date on the Case Status Online hasn't changed, there is no point in calling and trying this. It is not suprising to me that the service centers are now catching on to this as kitty loves moudi stated that VSC now knows about it. When not used correctly, the rfe trick does more harm than good.

You may be right but people are doing this because they are desperate. I know how that feels, i am in teh same boat. It took 2 and a half years for my citizenship to clear because of a name check backlog, now i am stuck again. You cannot understand how it feels until you are in the same boat. Your paperwork is stuck and not being processed and your husband, wife, child, parent, whatever is apart from you. I dont' need to look at your timeline to figure out that you are not in the same boat as us who have been waiting for a long time. I know that i wont be trying this trick again but i can surely understand why people would continue doing it.
