Hang in there Jean Mondays are always killer to me. Getting back in the swing of things and see Lynne is prepared she has the aspirin. :P

EEEEEEEEEE!!!!! (No I didn't just rub the bump on my forehead...) My apartment is READY!!!!! I can FINALLY move in on Friday. God, I have been so FREAKED about this because as you know the Embassy was not pleased that I wasn't living in my own place. I don't blame them. I had to send the lease and all that doo doo to make them happy after Mohammed's interview. Well, I have been getting very nervous about the fact that the construction kept getting delayed and I am not in there yet. The lease date was 4/28. They apartment people were nice enough to write me up a lease ahead of time to make everyone happy. Well, if the Consul follows up to see if the utilities are in my name, etc. they would find zippo at this point except for the phone bill which I went ahead and put into effect just as an insurance policy. Ok I'm half crazy and don't know what the h*ll I'm doing at this point. Anyway, I am calling to switch all utilities this afternoon and am praying that this hasn't caused any huge problems on our processing. Looks like I'm moving this weekend!!!

Remember the little word we learned last week? (N-O?) Don't be afraid to use it ;)

Hahahaha... it's become my battle cry today!!!

Head's up for any divorcees on this forum. I just discovered something interesting. NOW I understand why the Embassy was so shaken about my living situation. My ex never removed me as a member of this residence on the utilities!!!! They had something to Mohammed about me still being listed and I had no idea what they meant. Now I do. I pretty much got it straightened out (I hope).

Now I'm having another panick. I don't know what this will do to our case. Sure it doesn't look good. The consul probably thinks I'm playing around. I tried to rectify all this, but I hope its not too late. I had no idea my name was still on file that way with the utilities.

Anyone have any ideas about something like this? Are we screwed?

Jean congrats on the apartment. I would make sure to get everything in your name now and I would hope that would appease the embassy. Good luck and keep us posted.

Call the utility company ASAP, get your name removed. You should probebly get a copy of a recent credit report too. That's how I found out that my ex screwed me! I started getting collection notices in the mail, BACK taxes...arghhhhhhhhhhh! I wrote a letter to the apartment complex we lived in to remove my name from the lease.

I know in California, only one name can be on the utilities and the other as an authorized user. Out here we actually have to give them our SS#. I called and turned off all services that were in my name, and he re-connected them in his own name. Don't have a panic, this is one of the hardships of divorce, figuring out finances, etc. :star:

My greatest fear is that the embassy will use this as grounds for RFE or worse, denial. That's the cause of my panic. Everything else is a big PFFT by comparison.

I honestly don't think that will happen. When you are married to someone they have complete access to your life, your SS#, etc. How did the embassy find our about the utilities anyway?
