This is 'politically correct' VJ where jokes aren't allowed if they might upset someone.

I DO want to know where the team was when disgusting things were said about a spiritual figure I highly respect hmmm....

then again, I only ignored it....didn't report it.

who was it?

Probably the Dalai Lama. And I know I was disparaging him. Others were too. He deserves it.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

The best part about picking on Buddhists.... is that their belief in ahimsa doesn't let them hit the report button... :jest:

I believe I asked you before to have a little more respect for the other members of VJ who are Catholic and could find your posts upsetting.

Please re-read this post and desist with the pictures associating the Pope with evil. Thanks.

Sure Mags (I didn't read that post by the way), and I believed I asked you some time ago to do something about people making overtly racist blanket statements about Mexicans, low income folks, etc. Respect goes both ways; and these cartoons are exactly that: cartoons.

If anyone found my posts upsetting, I apologize to them - but don't give me that speech -- we've been down this road before. Outrageous behaviour is allowed in VJ everyday; and you yourself said to me once that jokes about undocumented immigrants were the flavour du jour so I should just let them go, while a cartoon of Joseph Ratzinger (who in my opinion is NOT God, just another dude) is apparently way much more controversial. Atrocious comments were made about other spiritual guides and no mods jumped in to say anything.

Again, respect goes both ways.

Peace, L.

IIRC, Len, I have actually spoken up a few times regarding hateful posts towards Mexicans and asked, in a very similar way to the way I requested above, for people to not post such hateful comments because we have a large membership of which some are Mexican. I have never used the term "flavour du jour" either and you are confused a tad here, I think.

But, of course, it's again easier to attack me than actually think back and say "ah yes, you DID act on the anti-Mexican comments that were being spouted left right and centre".

People have short memories when they are trying to make a point, I guess.

With regards to your "Atrocious comments were made about other spiritual guides no mods jumped in to say anything" quote...did it cross your mind that we didn't see it?

No, because it's easier to attack than just ask us.

You did in a PM to me a few months back Mags, but never mind.

And don't feel attacked Mags, since that is not the case. I have asked repeatedly - but I'd rather take my concerns to either Ewok or LaL. If this offends you, sorry.

Peace out.

Oh I don't feel attacked, just saying it as I see it. Oh and once more, that comment was NOT made by me, so please do not continue to associate it with me.

Oh I really don't mind if you take your reports to the other mods...less work for me! Weeeeeeeeee! :)

Well, anyways...us Catholics can have a sense of humor too...so no offense taken at the Pope jokes...(we're kinda used to it)...besides...its a great way to start open conversations...for those who 'have ears to hear'...

Peace to All!

Ya, I'm Catholic too...and I also thought the Pope/Darth Vader transformation was quite funny! The resemblence was somewhat 'erriiieee'....but....I guess I'll go ahead and stay Catholic

Actually, don't know if many people caught much of the Pope's speeches etc when he was in the USA last week, but they were quite good. I was somewhat 'on edge' about the new pope as well (after all, he's filling some big shoes...), but his speeches and general spiritual demeanor really moved when when I watched him in the United States.

Peace to All!
