Do any of you sew your own clothes?

I was wondering if anybody made any of thier own clothes for going to other countries to meet thier S.O. Last time i went to Pakistan his sisters worked so hard on making me some outfits. I would really like to make my own before I go again. They just work too hard and I can sew my own.

My problem is i cant find any patterns for making Pakistan clothes. Don't laugh, but i actually had to look at halloween costume patterns to get anything even similiar. Does anybody know of any sites that sells these patterns for me to make. I would really appreciate it.

The best thing is to use one of the old outfits that fits you well.

Take it apart and trace it onto brown paper. Then you'll have a template for other salwar kamiz.

I love Salwar kamiz (also known as Churidar or Punjabi suits) and wear them alot. But I get them tailored in India rather than buying the ready-made ones. The ready-made ones often have hideous patterns and are about as flattering as a potato sack.

Do you buy them online? If so, where?

My SO had beautiful Salwar kamiz made for me with beautiful beads and all, while i was in Pakistan. I have about five of them. Why dont you just send ur measurements to ur sweetie and have him get them made for u there, thats what i did. Besides u wont find the beautiful fabric here like there is there.

Li does: She can sew, knit, and embroider. She makes the most beautiful things using a Chinese type of macramé. She also does origami and creates true pieces of art out of scrap paper.

She is amazing. (Did I mention I'm the luckiest guy in the world?)

I've had great luck buying custom-tailored salwar suits on eBay, actually - better luck than shopping at the bazaar in KTM sometimes. I have a couple of sellers who I buy from regularly and they have my measurements on file. :D I wear them every day and they fit me perfectly. I agree about the readymades - most are pretty much straight up and down and not flattering at all.
