translation and notarised papers

yay we got our Noa 2 just yesterday that was awesome after 91 days.

Soon I'll receive my packet 3 but I ve read that I'll need my police report translated and notarised; at least I think I have too so

- do I need to get it translate in English since french is also a Latin Language ??

- and if I do where can I have it translated and notarised ?? I ve herad about doing it online does anyone have a good web adress ????

All documents not in English or in the official language of the country in which the application for a visa is being made must be accompanied by a certified translation into English. Translations must be certified by a competent translator and sworn to before a Notary Public.

excuse my ignorance... but what is a public notary? Has the translation of documents changed. Before when I asked this question the advise I got was that the person who translated the form sign to say they were qualified to do so - nothing about a public notary.... guess it's another hoop to jump.. sigh...

Yes the NOA1 was dated Feb 27th, after being sent to the lawyer much earlier.

I don't know it seems quite weird to me too. but I would guess that if the translation is made by someone qualified to do it ; it's just fine. I hope I'm right at least lol

There is many difference with what can be required at consulate level as opposed to USCIS.

A notary public is an officer who can administer oaths and statutory declarations, witness and authenticate documents and perform certain other acts varying from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

And not necessarily. The US consulate in Australia may require that translated documents be notarized, but not all consulates do.

thank you so to be clear I will need them translate and noatarized for the AOS process that's for sure. but for my interview I don't need to cause I'm french and my interview take place at the US embassy of Paris.

am I right ? I take quite time to understand something lol but I just prefere to be sure.

That's Incorrect. I recently did my wife's AOS and you do not need any police certificates (so the translation is way out of the question.) You will need the birth certificate in English or a translation but kj is wrong about the police certificate. Good Luck
