I voted yes too. Off topic is too flooded by political posts.

Off Topic

Anything (well almost) that you need to say you can say here.

Last I checked, this means politics (& religion & bodily fluids & illegal immigrants).

I knew someone would say that.

That's true, yes. However, it seems that the topic "merits" it's own section due to the popularity of it.

If you know what I mean.

No, I don't. This election process has forced more Americans than ever to vote- that's HUGE! And ti's exciting - Americans are energized to pick a leader (as split as they appear to be). Our country is in turmoil & a recession. I think it's great that current events can be discussed with my peers, whether or not I agree.

At the end of the day, OT is exactly that, OFF TOPIC. The purpose of this site is immigration, not OT. Don't give it more importance than it already has. No one makes anyone click on a thread. ;)

Capt.,

Since this appears to be very divisive, what about adding filters for the topics, where the OP can designate what category they want their post recognized as (politics, humor, religion, news) and then members can select which filters they want on? This would make viewing the list of threads in OT customizable to everyone's tastes and this would eliminate the need for subforums within OT.

( Bigotry , name-calling, and a LOT of favouritism ).

Welcome to VJ!

Thank you and good luck on your journey ! ;)

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

There's not option for a no holds barred, non moderated, subterranean dungeon forum. That's what I vote for.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

OT is full of idiocy. Some of it's political, some of it's sexual and some of it just silly games for the post whores.

Why single out one form of idiocy and banish it while leaving the others alone?

We can all play idiot word games, but not everyone can talk politics. Why? Because not everyone reads. Perhaps everyone should. Then we could all play :luv:

ps. I voted no.

I totally agree with Troll. Everyone knows we're rooting for rival candidates and I confess a lot of what he posts gets my goat :) but I do appreicate reading his POVs and to discern where he is coming from. Politics is contentious but out of the debates even viscious as they are, we gain insights.

I also concur with Dev on asking why we want to micromanage? After all we are adults and by now know pretty well who is going to post which POV.

Now with regard to volume, through all these years, I have suffered cats and dogs and all kinds of

idiotic topics taking over OT, only to ebb and flow.

I voted NO.

I like this idea. Would help me avoid the kitty pic threads.

It would be a win-win situation all around.

Yep.

Banish is a little strong, no? More like, move it. Will it be difficult to locate?

Indeed its not banishing. Perhaps some people are afraid that they (and their content) won't get as much attention as usual
