Hi everybody,

I just posted a short introduction on the "Introducing our members" forum. I will briefly introduce myself and the lady I met online and then share where we are in the process of obtaining a K-1 visa.

First of all I want to say that I am so glad to have found this web site and see that we all are on a journey to be with our loved one's and make a life together.

My name is Jeff and I'm 40 years old living in North Carolina. I met Fely, who is 36, online through filipinaheart.com in January of 2008. We have chatted, emailed, and talked on live cam daily and sometimes twice a day. I went through a divorce over 7 years ago and have only went out on a date twice in the past 6.5 years. A co-worker told me about filipinaheart.com and so I signed up for one month and so eight days later Fely said hi to me and then it has been wonderful getting to know her.

Fely and I are not as far along as most in here. I have already purchased a plane ticket to go visit her this May, got my vaccinations, and reserved a hotel. I'm counting down the days until I board the plane. I'm really looking forward to our meeting and it is getting so exciting.

I'm still at the stage trying to decide whether to pay an attorney or try to obtain the K-1 visa on our own. There is one online firm that was recommended by a reputable company and their fee is reasonable. I believe the main reason of maybe using them is that they do this everyday and know exactly how to package everything and I will have unlimited access to attorney's with all my questions and concerns.

We are getting together all of the needed documents now before I visit her so that we will have what we need early to submit. I hope that the processing times will continue to decrease as the year progresses.

I'm looking forward to having discussions with everyone here and going through the journey of bringing my soon to be fiance to the US and marrying her. Have a great day everyone.

Welcome to VJ :)

Take a look at the guidelines here. Unless your case has some complications you can probably do the filing yourself. If you decide to use an attorney, make sure they specialize in immigration.

Good luck on your journey!!!!

welcome to VisaJourney Jeff and good luck to you both . I will be visiting my fiance April 13th leaving Arkansas on the 12th and was lucky enough to have an interview fall while i will be visiting on the 23rd of April . I used the services of an attorney but i really dont think it was necessary there is so much information here i think it could have been done just as well without the expense of legal help . Again good luck and be patient enjoy the ride .... Randy

Hello Jeff! This is Maria, Michael and I also met through FilipinaHeart. He came to visit me last February 2008 and we are on our way to filing the petition this month without any lawyer assistance. We have been into reading and many couples in this site have good heart and are most willing to help, so much of making things easier for those who are just on the first steps of this journey. Besides, money don't grow on trees and I have to understand the financial aspect of my guwapo baby. :P

Mabuhay! Welcome to the Philippines!

Thanks Maria and Michael and everyone here who has replied to my post. I really like this forum and I will decide very soon on a visa service or not. Yes I know it is expensive to bring a woman to the US from the Philippines.
