The Absolutely Worst Places to Live in America by Dave Gilmartin

The Absolutely Worst Places to Live in America surveyed thousands of Americans to find the fifty dirtiest, smelliest, most miserable cesspools, armpits, and tourist traps that make up this great land of ours. The "winners" of this awful distinction include the likes of:

· Atlantic City, New Jersey—Come for the slots. Stay for the gang warfare and fourth-rate prostitutes.

· Gary, Indiana—Like a sewer populated by 100,000 people.

· Carson City, Nevada—Perfect for folks burned out on the high culture of Reno.

· Fairbanks, Alaska—Take the most horrible place you've ever been, then subtract the sun.

· Jacksonville, Florida—Possibly the foulest-smelling city in the Western hemisphere.

· Camden, New Jersey—Once the proud home of America's first mass murderer, it's been all downhill since then.

Perfect for your friends unfortunate enough to live in Baltimore or Houston, The Absolutely Worst Places to Live in America is an uproarious look at the dregs of our otherwise wonderful country.

((((IS THIS TRUE??)))

I'm surprised about Jax, I heard it was nice?

St Augustine, just down the road is nice. Jax, not so much.

How in the world does Detroit not make this list?

What puzzles me is why are so many US cities run down?? I just don't get that..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Jacksonville? Really? I was there a couple weeks ago and enjoyed it, although perhaps I was just in a particularly nice area. Then again, I doubt they would have a conference in a crappy hotel in a crappy part of town anyways. The place we were at was great and the area near the beach we drove to was nice as well so I'm not sure where the smelly parts were!

Really!? I'm so disappointed. I've always pictured Alaska just like Northern Exposure.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Yes South Central is run down. So is Detroit. I know both cities very well - do you?

I don't need to. It's a city not a person..

No, it's not a person but like a person you need to visit at least once.

I'm sure any opinion formed will be from watching Boys in the Hood and 8 Mile, as opposed to any real life experience
