LMAO... I know the feeling... I'd probably want to open it myself... Dumb question but obviously I'm forgiven for the lack of sleep and my head being in the clouds this morning.. Does the MBE come back with the passports or is it given at the Embassy when you are approved. Meaning: do I have to call Crash NOW and make sure he doesnt open it???? LOL

it should be sealed/stamped and made very clear not to open.

In London, at least, the brown envelope is returned with the passport via courier; you get them both at the same time. The envelope is labeled quite clearly as being part and parcel of the visa itself--no sealed brown envelope, no entry into the States.

We did have a case of a London K-1 who peeped into his brown envelope. He had to return to London, where they inspected the package for completeness and then sealed it up again.

I wouldn't recommend that anyone try this--I doubt that a lot of consulates would be as gracious and accommodating as London.

Thanks... was worried I had to call Crash right away and tell him to leave the envelope alone LOL...

I had my interview and got the visa and brown envelope the same day. They told me that the K-1 visa in my passport was basically worthless without the sealed brown envelope.

When I was going through Shannon, the Officer opened it in front of me and it's basically everything you filed, plus the documents you handed in during your interview. Nothing secret about it at all. It's sealed so you won't tamper with anything.

Jaylen Brit,

The Panel Physician should give you a copy of the vaccination worksheet. If they don't, ask for one before you leave the office.

Yodrak

Soooooo..I'm tempted I gotta admit. I wanna see whats in it - KNOWING isn't enough - oh no..I wanna see and make a copy in case it gets lost! (especially the vaccination sheet)

The MBE sounds like it is meant to tempt and tantalise

Paul and I met on the Bazaar on the 14th January (he joined my progressive rock forum that day)

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Arrived in Houston on October 29th 2006

Married 17th November 2006

Lost my father 8th January 2007 (all dates are a blur after this)

Conditional Green Card dated 24th October 2007

I-751 posted on 6th August 2009

Received on 7th August 2009 in VT

Uhmm, i didnt go thru the fiance forms and all...Maybe that's why i dont remember a BROWN envelope...

One thing i can tell you is that 3wks ago when we did my AOS interview, the officer said we had to go back to the doctor and have him resubmit in a sealed envelope a new medical because the doctor didn't check off POS/NEG for syphyllis and HIV.

We had told the receptionist that we wanted a photocopy, but she said they don't do that anymore...Anyway, before SHE sealed the envelope, she called us to her desk and showed us the papers... Nothing impressive, it was exactly the same as what we originally had a copy of, except this time, he checked off NEG for both..

Help! My fiancee received her brown package which says do not open etc. etc. However, her passport is also inside the package. Obviously, she can't leave the country without the local immigration officer inspecting her passport. Any suggestions?
