I see on the USCIS website that my "Last Updated" date has changed from 03/18/2008 to 03/26/2008.

My NOA1 receipt date is 03/18/2008 based on the "NOTICE DATE" field on the NOA1.

So, I can account for the date of 03/18/2008 on the USCIS website.

I am trying to understand why my file would be touched only 8 days after the NOA1.

I assumed that flow of my I-129F was as such:

1. CSC Receives Original I-129F submission

2. CSC seperates payment from the paperwork.

3. CSC cashes payment

4. CSC puts paperwork into a folder and creates NOA1

5. All paperwork remains in a box with other submissions of the same time frame

6. File doesn't get touched again until CSC is working on submissions of this time frame

Any ideas on why there would be a touch so soon after NOA1? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thank you.

I think it's pretty meaningless - perhaps they just consolidated a box and put it into storage. Just a guess though. You don't want to get touches this early, in my opinion, as it may indicate there's an issue with a signed form or a missing form. But you sound pretty organized so that shouldn't be a worry.

And So It Begins......

I suspect that they want to update your I-129F application if you have paid for it, hence why there is a "touch" on your application. My status was also updated after about a week when my check cleared from the bank to pay for the application.

Welcome to the waiting game, here is where it begins. Some people get "touches" and other do not. You just have to be patient and it will happen. I remember the frustration felt during this process and it can be very tough, especially for the fiance, just hang in there and everything will be OK. You can check other couples timelines to get an idea of the expected waits for fiance's from Peru.

it means everything and nothing

Touches mean nothing. Some people get touches soon after receiving NOA1 (I did), some do not. Some people get a touch right before approval, some do not. (I did not.) Some people get a touch mid-way through the process, others never get a single touch and then an RFE shows up in the mail. For all practical purposes, touches are random bits of useless information. Don't put any faith into them, and certainly don't worry over them when they either come or don't come. The only time you can ever say that a touch meant something is after the fact, and by then it's useless information.

Just filling out their timeline is enough. What goes in the signature space is a personal preference.
