Pretend, for a moment, that you are holding a camera (video).

Now, zoom out so that you can see your city.

Zoom out furthar...see your country.

Zoom out all the way to get a vantage point from outer space.

See our beautiful blue and green planet with some clouds hovering here and there?

Now ask yourself:

Is there really such a thing as an "illegal" human being?

(L) (L) (F)(L) (L)

when they step foot on my property, especially at night, yes

... Who's going to pay for that?

Exactly.

Your tax dollars at work.

It sucks.

Time for a new idea!

Come on all you smarty-pantses.

Get to work!

THINK

:star:

Thanks for making me laugh so hard.

It is always good at times such as these. ;)

Will McCain or Obama if elected push for this? After jumping thru all the hoops and paying hard earned cash to get your SO in the US LEGALLY.

I understand why they come here illegally .......... but..........i dont like it.....i was born in Guatemala.....my parents brought me here legally......yup i know a lot will disagree with me but.......those of us that have worked hard to be usa citizens the right way it does not sit well with us when something is given to people that come here the wrong way.......

Word!

When I explain this stuff to my wife, who came here legally, she thinks it's NUTS!

I think giving them amnesty is to help the economy. I assume that all the illegals who are working are not paying into the tax system, yet they are using tax system dollars like WIC and healthy families, planned parenthood an many other tax funded organizations that do not require proof of residency. I heard some analysis about how this is greatly contributing to the economic depression we may be facing.

Basically its supply and demand. There is a high use of tax funded organizations (demand) some of that comes from the illegal immigrants. Yet there is not enough people paying into it (supply) to make the system balanced and working properly. I think if they give them amensty they are able to have a better tracking system on these people. They will have a SS number and be taxed and that could help the economy in which they are sucking resources out of.

 Here in LA it is out of control. You can go to a fast food joint like BK or McD's and no one speaks english. What the heck is that? They can't even answer your questions about the menu. A friend of mine...who's parents are illegal she was born here, yet many of her friends are new and illegal...she told me that many times the managers of these places pay under the table and don't even bother getting a SSN from you.

I am pro-LEGAL immigration. While I fully understand why most people come here that way,I do not condone it.It is not fair to those who are doing it the proper way.Illegal immigration has done some serious damage to the job market. If you go to any restauraunt, landscaper, construction company,or factory in Southern New England, that is all they want to hire is people who are not legal.

I think if someone "risked his life to get here" then he knows he was breaking the law. I don't disagree that it might be cultural to migrate, but I do disagree that it is part of a culture to break the law. I think that is a very patronizing attitude.

I asked my soon-to-be ex-husband the question one time of why he thought he could break the law to come illegally to the US. And what he told me was, when you're coming to the US you don't really think of it as breaking the law-you think of it as going to look for work. I posted that on here a long time ago. I think when it was suggested that illegal aliens have some sort of evil intentions or are criminal minded. Of course he's only one. But just like so many cultural attitudes, I can't believe that one is unique to him. It's just not about breaking the law, even though that's what is actually done.

I am quite sure for many people that is how it happens, they don't have work, they see that work is available in the US, they go and find the work.

However, there is the question of entitlement. These people aren't 'entitled' to think this way because they are not US citizens. They should think of some way of changing the fact there is no workto be hard where they are rather than moving to where things are 'easier'.

It's easier to break the world up into segments when you realise that some people are entitled to things and others are not depending on the logistics of where they are born.

They should because we think they should. But they're not us. They don't think the way we do. Just like it might seem strange to us that people in various parts of the world eat what they do (Bizarre Foods on the Travel Channel)-it's just what they do. Or how we think people shouldn't do things to mutilate their bodies (Taboo on Nat Geo)-it's just what they do. So besides the fact that I watch way too much TV, what it's made me realize is that different people think differently. What seems right or even obvious to me because of who I am, where I come from, how I was raised, etc. is not even a consideration in the mind of someone else in a different set of circumstances. We call it entitled because it infringes upon what we feel are our personal liberties. They don't see it that way-for them it's not about taking our pie, it's about sharing a piece of what to someone else must seem like a large enough pie. I am of the opinion, and Javier has said the same thing, that build a wall and they'll still find a way to come. It's just what they do.

The point is they know they are breaking the law, even if they don't think of it as breaking the law. They find ways to enter without being caught, and they use all sorts of techniques to remain at large. But they do not respect that law. They do not think it applies to them. I'm not judging them. I understand where it comes from. My husband is from Africa. You can bet that whatever situations exist south of the US border (where people have the chance to break the law and sneak in) to compel people to break the law exist tenfold in Africa.

The point is that once the law is broken, it is incomprehensible that anyone should be indignant about consequences being enforced. The "cultural" argument does not work. It is culturally acceptable in some countries to have multiple wives, to do female circumcisions, to treat animals in ways that are illegal in the US, to spit and smoke in elevators. When you come to the US, you follow US laws and if you don't like the laws, you either leave, or you seek legal ways to change them.

The point is that the pay illegals get for the work they do is exploitive, and that keeps all salaries lower. It keeps menial jobs off the radar as far as respect is concerned, and it means that the US does not need unskilled laborers. It does not need people willing to work for LEGALLY low wages, so legal immigration for people from places like Africa is limited to the wealthy.

The point is there are reasons EVERY country in the world controls its borders and the coming and going there. The point is that illegals immigrants do not respect the law of the land they live in. It would be one thing if when they were caught they said, "My bad," went home and snuck in again. That would be a problem, but where I lose all sympathy for them is when they say, "We have a right to stay. Who cares about your laws. They don't apply to us. You are cruel and selfish and don't understand your own economy. If you try to make us leave, we will protest. Your people invaded this country and so you don't have any right to enforce laws about immigration. We have just as much right to decide who should live in this country than citizens." I could go on, but my blood pressure is rising.

You know the Mexico borders here in Cali and in Texas are HORRIBLE. Actually they are quite scary. The guys who sneak the illegals over here shoot at the border patrol agents. Throw rocks at their trucks and it gets really scary. Can you believe that?! They are commiting a crime and then want to get mad at the border agents who are trying to uphold the law. Just today I read that a Mexican-American agent (i can't think of the exact title) who is supposed to medically help illegals who are hurt and get caught and he is supposed to make sure they are treated fairly...well he was shot and killed by these illegal smugglers just outside of San Diego. Its a freaking war going on over here. Trust, if you lived in one of these Mexico/US border states you'd be furious as all HELL with illegals!

You know. I think the problem isn't illegals coming from Canada or Asia. They're primarily from Mexico. Hmmm....Something need to be done with Mexico, not the other immigrants that happens to have VISA and overstayed their VISAs.

Mexico ruined everybody's life!
