When planning their family, couples should look at the stats for Down's Syndrome in particular. A woman in her 40's should probably consider using a donor egg.

my mom had 3 children around her 40's.... maybe she got lucky.... the doctor wanted to do an amnio test to test for Down's but my mom refused...

hmmm well my mother in law had her second son 3 yrs ago and she was 42,

and there was a lady in romania who had a baby 2 yrs ago and she was 78

so i dunno, once you are not physically able to put down the walker and bend over to pick up the baby? :D

78???

yea. it was creepy, and she had to have a c-section, she was artificially pregnanted, but she still had the baby.

I remember her, wasn't she all over the news ? She really didn't look bad for an old woman. But I don't think I would want to have any babies at 78.

May 7,2007-USCIS received I-129f
July 24,2007-NOA1 was received
April 21,2008-K-1 visa denied.
June 3,2008-waiver filed at US Consalate in Panama
The interview went well, they told him it will take another 6 months for them to adjudicate the waiver
March 3,2009-US Consulate claims they have no record of our December visit, nor Manuel's interview
March 27,2009-Manuel returned to the consulate for another interrogation(because they forgot about December's interview),and they were really rude !
April 3,2009-US Counsalate asks for more court documents that no longer exist !
June 1,2009-Manuel and I go back to the US consalate AGAIN to give them a letter from the court in Colon along with documents I already gave them last year.I was surprised to see they had two thick files for his case !

June 15,2010-They called Manuel in to take his fingerprints again, still no decision on his case!
June 22,2010-WAIVER APPROVED at 5:00pm
July 19,2010-VISA IN MANUELITO'S HAND at 3:15pm!
July 25,2010-Manuelito arrives at 9:35pm at Logan Intn'l Airport,Boston,MA
August 5,2010-FINALLY MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 23,2010-Filed for AOS at the International Institute of RI $1400!

Wouldn't want to, and how is that fair on the child??? "Hey Suzy, where's your mom?" "Retirement home" My parents were "old parents" in their 40's, so my mom actually had taught some of my friend's parents in school, and that was weird enough. Speaking of big age differences between kids, my brother and I have a 22 year age difference. I actually have a niece who is 3 weeks older than I am and I have a great niece and nephew :) Kinda funny!

I'm curious as to what people would consider "too old" to have a baby.

I'd say, for women, too old is 45 and up. For men, they can never get too old :P

I am 30 and I feel that I should seriously consider having kids, only if we can provide for all their needs. Age is irrelevant to us now, we just have to wait for the perfect time.

I think 40 would be about the absolute limit for me.

But to seek treatments and end up with 3-4-5-6...kids would be just plain crazy.

My husband had a nightmare a few days ago in which we had octuplets.

due to my medical history, I was told by my ob-gyn that if we want our own children, we need to have them sooner rather than later. I'm 35.

Oh, and Down's Syndrome can occur in pregnancies when the mom is in her twenties. The probability rises as the age of the mom rises, but the bulk of babies who are born with DS are born to moms under the age of 35.

I think early 40s is probably a good cut-off point for having babies, IMHO.

I'm going to be 30 next month and I feel like I'm getting too old. I really think it's just a personal preference. I want to be able to enjoy my life once my kids are grown and out of the house. I've always felt this way. Unfortunately, someone else doesn't have the same feelings as me because I haven't had any kids yet. So, in that respect, I'll probably try until I have one or really am too old to have one.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!

The biggest need you have to provide is to love them and give them a good start in life. There will never be a perfect time. You could die tomorrow. Life is what happens while you are planning for the future.
