Talk to your neighbor. Sometimes people don't realize how inconsiderate they are being until someone points it out to them. If that does not work, talk to your landlord. Then, if it still happens, I would call the cops.

but wiring his house with 220 would be much more fun.......

Been there before and unfortunately am once again (stupid little barky dogs). Since you are in an apartment, complain to the manager. Keep complaining to the manager, if they don't do anything, go to the regional manager and on up until someone does something about it. See if there is anything in your lease about noise violations and keep a documentation of all instances of noise problems. If you have security at your apartment, call them every time something happens so that they can also witness the noise problem.

Tell him how much you appreciate his efforts as maintenance guy.

Ask him what he thinks would be an appropriate time to turn the music down. You may have to negotiate this part. If he has a party would it be okay to play loud longer?

If you can get him to quote a time--then you will just be reminding him of what he agreed to. :)

All of us forget what time it is and some of us are hard of hearing--my son tells me sometimes that he can hear what I am listening to as he drives up. I didn't think it was that loud!!

Amazingly, you could have worse neighbors. Really. I have suffered though so many DICKS in the military, I would have welcomed loud music. Maybe he could play something you like....

But, Man up--don't be a dork and go behind his back. If he doesn't change--leave. I understand your circumstance to some degree but don't fan any flames here.

You might also see if you have anything in common--helps to see each other's view.

How about both at once? A cumulative effect is best for Eric's creative approach, I think.

Perhaps a cat in heat could be employed to add to the soundtrack. I'm sure she'd take payment in kitty treats.

Check local sound ordinances. In my township, there is one. And we usually give a warning the first time. Second time we have to go out we have the authority to place them under arrest. Seriously.

My downstairs neighbor has no respect for myself or the other apartments that adjoin his. He listens to his stereo so loud sometimes my floor literally vibrates. The other night it was until well after 1 am. This was the first Sunday in a long time I took off from work. I wanted to relax but was woke up to this ####### and it's been going on all day. I guess stomping on the floor or slamming doors etc doesn't get the point across. I've already had a talk with him about a month ago and he apologized. It was fine...for a while.

I'm trying to get by until my fiancee is here and we can start seriously looking in to purchasing a home...for the time being, I'm here. So for anyone that has had to deal with similar circumstances, what did you do? This guy is the maintenance supervisor for the complex, so any repairs I need done, he has access to my apartment. I really don't want to rock the boat too much at this point.

Since he's the maintenance guy there is really no excuse for his behavior.
