Hi All,

Besides my "newbie" post, this is my first post. I just sent in the I-129F petition on 3/6, but one question I have is regarding the submission of my (US petitioner) birth certificate. According to the guideline here, it says a copy of the birth certificate, front and back, OR a copy of the entire passport. This is supposed to prove citizenship. My concern is that I should have sent the birth certificate instead of the copy of my passport. In my passport, I do have two Indian Visas - tourist and business.

Has anyone sent in copies of the passport and not the birth certificate? Also, it's been mentioned that often times the originals should be with the fiance for the interview....well since I submitted my passport, does that mean I need to send my passport to my fiance in India when the interview comes up?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Achha Bhai:

A little different. I didn't send my birth certificate because I was born in India (I don't have a birth certificate in any case). I sent in a copy of my citizenship document (send a blank paper and write back of naturalization certificate on it in addition to the front copy). I didn't want to make umpteen copies of those pages in the passport - this was simpler for me. Good Luck
