Hey there Guys!

I just got back from my Biometrics appointment and it all went went but i think it'll be worth to share my experience ;)

My husband and I arrived before our scheduled time and we were greeting by a really nice security guard in the reception area who took a look and stamped my appointment notice and gave me a form to fill in.

When I went to give it back to him, he told me I might have to remove my piercings, which I told him "oh dear, I didn't know", but he was very sweet and told me not to worry and see what it could be done (he even joked around telling me he could even find a hammer and try his luck  ). He then gave me back my paperwork and a number and asked me to wait until my number was called.

After a very short while they called my number and a very nice lady proceed to explain what it was gonna be done, she took my fingerprints and she mentioned about my piercings, I told her I needed pliers to remove some of them but she was so sweet she even tried to offer her help. After she took my picture she explained she had to ask a supervisor about my piercings just to make sure everything was done properly. The supervisor came out and told me it was best to get rid of the piercings for the picture, and when I explained I needed some sort of pliers she told me not to worry and to come back in an hour or so.

My husband and I went back home and very quickly I removed all my jewelery and came back to the USCIS place.

The security guard greeted us both and told me I did not have to wait (there were not many people there anyways, maybe 1 or 2 people), the same lady came out who smiled at me and asked me to go inside to get it all taken care of.

Everybody was very sweet to be honest and very helpful too :) All this was done in Los Angeles.

Just for all of you 'alternative folks' out there with piercings it might be a good idea to remove them before the Biometrics :P

I hope so too, I have my own reasons to sweat. I came to the US on a family passport, and now I am obviously applying seperately from my family (with my husband), and long story short uscis took the passport from my brother during his process. I called the 800 # and they said that they will accept my school ID. I hope they do?? I would hate to be turned away after a 3 hour drive...sigh!

Thank you for sharing your experience, isnt it funnny how we worry so much, but things seem to turne out OK. I am glad it was a pleasant experience fo you, especially because i'll be taking my bio's in LA too!!

Thanks so much and good luck to you too! Hopefully they will be as nice to you as they were to me :)

I think if you bring all your NOAs as well as the Biometrics appointment letter as well as a photo ID and explain the situation to anyone at the office it might be ok.

However, when I was there waiting to be called I saw a banner with all the documentation required for the Biometrics, this is what it mentioned:

Appointment notice

Photo ID (such as):

• Passport

• Driver's Licence

• National ID

• Military ID

• State-issued photo ID

You can find all this information in the letter as well.

Another thing you can do is to try to make an Infopass appointment before your Biometrics to get all this information clarified. If I was you I would try to get all this resolved before getting there considering you have a 3-hour drive.

Hope this helps! And good luck!
