Hey VJ Peers,

My wonderful guy is coming home to NYC tommorow. I am sooo excited, even though it has been only 2 1/2 months in this process, I feel like I have waited for an eternity. Any final advice, maybe on what can be expected at the POE, advice on first time plane travel, coming to America, I appreciate you all, you guys have been a great support through this journey (F)

2/3/2010- Received - via USPS delivery tracking

Congrats. POE should be easy. Did you say it is his first time flying? That may be the hardest part of the whole thing. I know it was my husband's first time flying (well, the small plane earlier in the day from his hometown to the international airport was). I was really worried about that and transfers in airports and things like that. Basically, I wrote him a detailed (I MEAN DETAILED) list of the process from when he got to the airport until he was in my arms at this end. I included things like popping ears, food/drink service, bathrooms, transfers, luggage, buttons on the plane, etc. Anything that I felt he might possibly need. I think he took one glance at it, but hardly read it. He met someone as they were boarding and told him that he had never flown before and he was kind enough to advise him. I think I was more worried about his traveling than he was. So, give him as much guidance on the trip as you think he needs/will use and just hug and hold him once he gets here.

Met on internet 6/04. Married at court house in Aba, Nigeria 12/04. 3/05 traditional ceremony in Nigeria w/ my picture. 12/05 finally together again. 4/06 ceremony/celebration in the states together

Love your advice. Will do the detail thing, but I like the part about holding him when he gets off the plane better (L)

My POE was JFK and like you I was kinda worried at first but it turned out to be okay. I even got my temporary EAD without even asking for it. Good luck! :yes:

March 2010: Officially separated after yet more affairs exposed just a day after my birthday!

February 2011: Officially divorced.
June 18, 2011: He married the girl he had the last affair with.

August 2014: I am engaged with my real soulmate. Not an American.

1)Put down all bags, lock the door, turn off the phone

2)Pounce on him and kiss him sensless and whatever else strikes your fancy. ;)

3)rest

4)repeat steps 2-4.

I agree with Chicken Little... :)

But also, I found it was a good idea to have a pretty relaxed schedule the first week or so that Luis got here. He was excited, sure, but also massively culture shocked, and while it wouldn't help him to have a million things to do as soon as he walked in the door, it also wouldn't have been good to do nothing.

Some ideas? Depends on what your work schedule is. We went to the nearby park for a picnic one day, did a LITTLE wedding planning, painted a room in our house, rented movies, adopted and loved up on new kitties. His transition I think was smoother because he was relaxed and happy and we were able to start setting a foundation of our life together.

Just some ideas,

Enjoy that beautiful day, it's surreal!

06-10-2005 - James visited Australia for first time on ETA- met in person

02-14-2006 - Engaged on Valentines day!

03-1-2006 - James returns to the US after 9 wonderful months visiting together

03-15-2006 - Realise we can't live without each other - James visits Australia again

We sent a letter to CSC to cancel our application. Can't afford repeated air flight tickets to see each other and there's no way we can be apart. Married and staying in Australia :)
