I don't understand football either. I watch a fair amount of it and still find it bewildering. That said, I still like it. There's something viscerally appealing about the violence, and with the HDTVs nowadays, it's really lifelike.

Not that I wish injury on anyone...

In terms of homoeroticism, I think the rugby scrum beats the football huddle. And no protective equipment.
