I was married to an abusive man who hit, pulled hair and spit on me.. I never ONCE did any of those things to him.. no matter what HE did I never had the "right" to hit back..

well I think people are misunderstanding the polls.

For what I understand, the hitting would be due to anger, or mood, not justified like self defense. And really, I can't believe someone would actually say yes, unless they misunderstood and answered yes in case the hitting was justified (meaning, self defense or something similar).
