I would think that if they believed he was in serious medical condition, they are required to treat him and investigate potential injuries. I mean, seriously, if they had a suspicion my spine may be injured they can stick their hand where they want! I'd rather have a sore butt than an untreated spinal injury.

I didn't know they check for a spinal injury by a rectal exam. Isn't that what X-Rays are for?

As far as I know, they don't. If anything, they could potentially aggravate a spinal injury by performing a rectal exam, since the patient usually needs to be in a standing or bending over position. Neither of which are good if the patient has a spinal injury. Even if that weren't the case, most men tend to "jump" a little during the exam itself (since the physician is probing a sensitive area) and such movement would do nothing but further injure the patient as well.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Most men?:bonk: Does this mean women tend to lie there unmoving? Wait. Don't answer that.

I suppose I said "men" before because I was thinking about prostate examinations. If you have no idea how those are performed, either consider yourself very lucky (if you're a young male or a female of any age) or think about getting one immediately if you're a male around the age of 50 or over. Regardless, most men find this exam very uncomfortable.

If I remember correctly, the first time it was done to me, I screamed. Of course, I didn't know what to expect either. :P
