In Canada you don't have to pass a credit score in order to get a phone.

Yes you do. Your credit is checked, and based upon your credit rating, will decide if you need to keep an amount "on deposit", or if there is a maximum monthly limit that you can spend. Standard practice for Bell and Rogers in Canada.

As for homeless people, I recall a story done on a woman in Toronto who would drive downtown in her Lexus each day, get out in her scrubby clothes, walk a couple blocks, then set up for the day to beg. At the end of the day she'd walk back to her Lexus and drive home to her house. She was making $40,000-$50,000 a year, tax free. One of the newspapers did an expose on her, and I recall there was a huge fury about it at the time, I'm sure most people have long since forgotten it.

So yes, things are not always as they seem.

I remember one time.. like 12 years ago.. I was a single mom.. going to college.. working 3 jobs.. yes 3 jobs.. just to pay the basic bills... I qualified for FS and WIC.. my mother.. came to visit.. to help me.. .. she would go do my shopping .. .. one day.. at SAFEWAY.. she was pulled out of line.. moved to a different. line ( and attitude of the checker drastically changed negitively) only due to the fact she was using FS... . NO ONE should ever be flagged nor chastisied for using... It was not that she was any less of a person.. just cause she used a benefit.. I have since never shopped at this store chain nor will I.. goes to show their people skills and tack.. .. comeon folks...

There are specific procedures and rules for the usage of foodstamps and WIC. The fact that a person was moved to a different cashier was most likely due to the fact that the original cashier was probably not familar with these procedures.

Of course, I cannot account for the change in attitude.

Also, I should point out that, as far as I know, WIC is pretty strict. For example, my wife was in a cashiers line once, and a woman in front of her was using WIC. She was not able to use it on tuna packed in oil, only tuna that was packed in water. The lady said that she got the oil packed the week before, but the cashier said that the rules have changed since then, and pulled out a huge rule book.
