OK so here goes my little story. I have been working in the USA in 2004, 2006 and 2007 at summer camps. And have been traveling. During this time I have fallen head over heals for the Girl of my dreams. Anyway i'm from Scotland and have recently left the Army to transfer to a new job in the Military.

Anyway if I go back into the military I will have another 6 years to do which is obviously a long time, I will however be earning a good wage.

No this is my dylema, do I give up the Military job and move to the USA and make a real shot of this or do I stay in the mlitary and risk holding on for 6 years?

Hmmmm my heart tells me to go despite what everyone else tells me.

I think you should find out how serious the girl is. Usually time will tell with that.

As for moving to the U.S., unless you have a good education and some money to fall back on, I wouldn't give up what you already have. You can always marry her (if she's serious) and move her their with you for the 6 years. That way, you will have been able to save money from the military AND be with your girl.

My personal opinion only.

Yeah - it definitely sounds like a good plan to have her move there with you - then you can sit out your time in the military and see how things go :) If further down the line you want to move there, then you can consider changing your job (if that is at all possible)

Good luck!

Stay in and bring her over to you. Immigration works both ways!

Exactly. If she was serious, and Scotland was the better choice for you as a couple (which it sounds like, in this situation), she should have no problem moving to Scotland to be with you (though it's never easy to leave family and culture behind). After the 6 years, you could immigrate back to the USA, if that's what's best for your family.

My fiancée and I considered both options (me going to Trinidad, her coming here), and decided that the best option was to start our life together in the USA. This doesn't have to be the decision that all international couples make.

The thing is I guess we are both young in terms of some people, she is in college right now and I don't want to ruin that for her.

I have done 5 years already in the Military and i'm a few years older. I need to let her get an education before anything else i'm guessing.

The age gap isn't huge so don't think i'm a freak. She is 18 and i'm 21, thats alright isn't it. :help:

Considering the little information I read here I'd say stay in the military and save your money while allowing her to finish college and have that experience. Try to hold on and see where the road goes when one or the other of you is finished first.

Then I'd come over here to be with her. My brother met a Czek girl when he was in the military and then she came out here to the states to be with him and they got married (1995). The both attended college and I think they ended up graduating at the same time. They both took jobs waiting tables to get by. I'm sure you two could do it with a lot of determination and perseverance. :)

I know a guy who met his fiance really young (18 I think) and decided to go to college somewhere in the Midwest (I forget where) at her school to be with her. Now they've graduated and he's in grad school with me and I think they're getting married this summer.

Well all I can say to you guys and the ladies of course is thank you very much. its so nice to get help with this tuff, its not easy is it.

I think what we are going to do is, I am going to stay in the military and she is going to come over here when she has free time, i'll save my money up and after 6 years move over and get a nice house for us.

Seems like the most logical thing. Not really what I want to do, but it does make sense.

I'm not really smart enough for College, I have completed college here but its slightly different from the USA, I tried university but was not good at it :s

and financially it would criple me.

Hmmm it seems like life is here to test me.

I would have thought after going to Iraq, being blown up and doing all the things I have done in my life this would be easy, but its not.

The only other thing left I have to try is an Internship, so if anyone reading this has a web design company or multimedia company anywhere in the USA, feel free to give me a job for 18 months.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Ben
