Is there really no Tuesday thread yet?

Well Today I am thinking about calling to see about lasik. It would save so much money for us in the long run. I have no astigmatisms or anything like that, but my vision is -4.00 :( I can't imagine what it would be like to wake up and be able to see first thing in the morning!

Morning everyone! Hope everyone has a great day. I feel completely exhausted. I look forward to sleeping on my stomach again. Only weeks away. I had lasik done and have been thrilled with the results. I maed sure the doctor I used was a cornea specialist. It was very quick and painless. The results were immediate. When I came out I sat down and looked over at my g-ma who was talking to me and I was able to read the clock in the other room, which I was not able to do prior. I say go for it. But make sure you are educated about it and that you have a reputable (sp) doctor. Most who have lasik will eventually need reading glasses and possibly a touch up. Well, off to finish the cleaning and packing.

Wised,

I've been looking at it for some time because I'm pretty blind :) I can't read the computer screen without my glasses/contacts unless I get really close! I once made the mistake 2 prescriptions ago, and left the house without anything, got in the car, and drove... about 20 feet until i realized I could not see the lines on teh road or where the road and teh grass began/ended! I was like #######! I stopped the car and ran back home. The idea of just needed reading glasses at some point sounds fabulous! I am a totally non-functional individual as far as sight as it is! I know poeple who had it done who were worse than me, and they love it.

How much does lasik cost normally? I know someone who went to Canada to get it done. I'm blind as a bat as well, but I don't know what my script is. Would it be engraved on my glasses at all?

Nothin' much going on here today. Weather is like spring and is supposed to be in the 50/60 range all week. I wish it would stay this way till summer!!!!

I only have positive things to say about. Like I said, I saw immediate results and it was great not having to get up and do the whole contact thing. Added additionl sleep time in the morning. I think is was only a couple of days before I was driving again. I had it done 4 yrs ago and since I am pregnant, can't tell if the pregnanct is playing with my eye sight or if I need to go back for a touch up. I will know in a few weeks. Good luck with it. You won't be dissapointed.

Hey, that posts gave me my first heart! Yeah for me. lol.

Bridget-- I'm not sure because it seems to vary by location. We have a nationally reputable place here that I think is about $900/eye (so 1800). The thing is for me, I spend about $300/year on visits and contacts, and if I need glasses you can just bump that to about $450. So for me, I'm looking at a 6-year payback.

Your script won't be on your glasses. You can just call your optometrist and ask.

I was wondering if increased blood pressure (like from pregnancy) would cause problems. I know some people who got even better than 20/20 vision-- I can't even imagine! Also would be looking forward to no contact-induced dry-eye. Ahhhh.

Me too :( I think lasik would be worth it and have wanted it for some time.... I am seriously considering it since I've been in gas permeable contacts since I was 11yrs old. I have reallly bad eye sight

Polar--same here-- not contacts, but I got glasses when I was 7. I didn't wear them except in class (I hate glasses) and once I was older-- 16-- I got contacts and it was amazing to be able to see.
