How do I request the return of my documents?

My wife and daughter have their greencards (Happy dance). I have a feeling that I'll be needing the documents that I have already submitted once their 2 years are over to apply for the 10 year. Who do I contact to get my documents back?

You shouldn't have submitted originals for anything, so why do you need them back?

I don't think you can get those documents back. They are in the file as proof that was needed for AOS.

Didn't you send in copies? You should have the originals in your possession.

USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.

You should have sent USCIS photo copes, I hope you did not send the originals.

USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.

My advice is to see if someone back in China can get her another. Or, see if you can somehow use the internet to get one from here. For Andre's, we sent to New York Jamaican embassy, who then got them through Jamaica for us. You need a BC for all kind of things you may not have yet.....DL, SSN, passport renewal, even some jobs.

My Yu got three birth certs from the notary office, knowing that one will be given to consulate for interview, and brought others to USA for future uses, we sent photo copy to USCIS for AOS, and still have the 2 originals from China.

On a side note: I-751 does not require birth cert for filing to remove conditions.

You should have send only copies of the original Birth Certificates.... as said by others you can file G-884 to request the return of these documents but dont hold your breath....

you would be quicker getting new original copies from the place of issue...

It takes USCIS 6 mo- 1 yr to start to look at some cases. Given requesting back your originals is less important on their list, you may be waiting a looooong time. Better just to get new originals.
