Bank statement questions

I submitted my k-1 visa in March of this year (2018). I am making the 125% poverty level income for the last 5 months. Before this I had only a part time jobs making only about 10-12,000 a year (abusive parents situation, I wasn’t allowed to work a full time job)

Will the short amount of time I’ve been making the required income effect anything? 

Also, I saw bank statements are part of the supporting documents. I want to give them as much supporting documents as possible. My bank account has reached zero a few times in the last 5 months. Will that look bad to the counselors? Or is that what they are looking for?

Bank statements are helpful, but by the time you need them, you should have a pretty positive balance. You only will use the last 2 or 3 months right before the interview ( so about 6 months from now). More important is the tax transcripts. Get those for the last few years you filed now, you can print them online, or have them mailed. Probably by the time you need to fill out the 134 for the interview, you will have just filed your 2018 taxes ( figure Feb or March of 2019) and that will be the important transcript as it is the most recent, and should show you above the poverty level.
