What to do?? Notices from USCIS got back to sender!

These are the facts

I applied for citizenship, at the moment that I applied I was living in California. I had to leave the country due to family emergency, while I was out My roommate told me I received a letter with the biometrics appointment. I sent them a letter to change the appointment.

a couple of months pass and my roommate sublets our apartment, I'm still abroad due to my mother being ill.  The person who is subletting returned all the letters to the postoffice marking them as "not living here anymore" (obviously this person is nuts!!)

So, I don't know what the letters are about, and I'm finally coming back to the states to fix all this up. Finally I changed my address to a new one and I let USCIS Know online, but this was just after all this letters where sent back to sender.

Could you please give me suggestions on how to approach this? I've always been very transparent with every letter I sent to USCIS. IS there a chance that I will lose the chance of citinzenship? also the fee that I paid?

Thank you very much before hand for your replies!

The person subletting the apartment had every right to send your mail back, you no longer live there, and you are not paying the rent for that apartment.

It is your responsibility to secure your mail, and to either inform the post office to hold your mail (you can do that online), set up a PO box, forward your mail to someone else while you are out of the country.

You can call USCIS and ask them to resend the mail.  Since you are out of the country you cannot make an info pass appointment.  Perhaps you can write a letter to USCIS placing your petition on hold until you return.  If you miss your biometrics appointment, your petition is denied as abandoned and then you will lose your money.

I would research since you are overseas what can you do to further support your petition until you return.

if you missed your biometrics then your case is denied and $$$ lost.

if USCIS rescheduled you and you missed it again - see above.

if USCIS rescheduled you and you cannot find out what date it is set for - hire a lawyer and they can inquire via infopass if you are not in the country at the moment.

also, get Informed Delivery from USPS - it is the app that lets you know what is coming in your mail every day.
