Should I be worried?

Hi,

Our case has been at the Nebraska service centre since July 14th, 2016.

On January 11th, I checked their updates chart and it mentioned they were processing cases submitted on July 2nd, 2016. The data is as of November 30, 2016 (as indicated at the top of the table).

If they have been processing cases submitted on 02 July and we applied on July 14th, shouldn't we hear something by now? I'm getting worried.

No don't worry.  Sometimes it takes up to 8 months for a case to be approved by the USCIS.  And also try to call them.

Hey,

I see you are from Egypt too (or at least sponsoring an Egyptian spouse). I heard the Nebraska service center is kinda slow. How long did it take you to get approved there?

You can worry, but it would be better not to

There is nothing you can do until you are outside of normal processing times, so if/when the table is updated with a date after your PD and you still do not have an RFE or NOA2 then you can call and file a service request

Any idea what happens next? I know it goes to NVC but what's the timeline? Are things done by physical mail or simply emails?

Your application is mailed to the NVC. This takes ~2 weeks. Getting a case complete at the NVC will take anywhere from 2-3 months, depending on how proactive you are and, honestly, your luck. Finally, you will have an appointment scheduled at your embassy. I'm not quite sure what the situation is like at the Egyptian embassy. You can check the timeline database to see how long it's taken applicants to go from case complete at the NVC to having an interview scheduled.

Thank you. Based on what I've seen in the website here, it seems cases remained at NVC for almost 7 months!  That's why I was asking. Can the case really stay with NVC  for that long ?

Of course it's possible that it spends 7 months there. But this would be an outlier case for sure. Currently, according to the VisaJourney timeline database, it's taking ~4 months to have a case complete at the NVC

Hi there. The USCIS Nebraska Center is terribly slow. They are typically processing cases within 6-7 months. I personally would begin calling once your case has reached 6+, anything before that, they will tell you that it's within the 'normal' processing times. Wish you luck. :)
