Colorado Issuing Driver's Licenses to Immigrants

Colorado has started issuing driver's licenses and identification cards to immigrants regardless of their legal status, marking a dramatic change in a state where legislators once passed strict immigration enforcement laws.

There was a festive mood at one Denver office issuing the documents Friday morning as state Department of Revenue Director Barbara Brohl congratulated applicants once they had their cards approved.

Five offices across the state are taking appointments from immigrants, including those with temporary legal permits and those in the country illegally. About 9,500 people are signed up for appointments through the next 90 days.

Colorado is among eight states that last year passed laws allowing identification documents for immigrants in the country illegally. The change is notable in Colorado because Democrats and Republicans in 2006 passed a package of laws cracking down on illegal immigration.

Thanks. But i did research theses few days, and i can't really find what kind of documents they need. I think they need some kind of tax number but not sure.

My assumption is that you need to show that you are a Colorado resident. Utlity bills etc and who you are, Passport.

This program is available in five offices around the state. Those offices are:

I feel so bad for you.

I understand that marriage can break up, but still you are his 2 kids mother,

so I hope your husband can really realize that

what is good for mother is usually good for kids, and what is bad for mother is usually bad for kids.

If you were deported and kids grow up missing you badly, and they later learn that

lack of support from dad didn't give mom a chance to stay legally in US to be with them

(which he should have done a long time ago), then kids aren't going to like that at all

and can effect their emotions particularly during sensitive teenage period.

That said, if being with kids is very important to you, then see if you can swallow your ego,

and be a bigger and mature person, and try to find ways to patch things up...

so that you can smoothly make progress on you EAD, GC, driver's license, SSN, etc.,

and most of all, not be separated from your children.

That's why I'm on this forum, I think at least I get more help from here than from him. So I'll be strong for my kids, step by step to get the green card so I will be able to stay with them. Excellent...keep that positive attitude...and hopefully that will rub off to your hubby.

If he loves his kids, he needs to realize, he need to make kid's mom happy,

so that she can best care for kids without unnecessary side distractions.

I say file the I 130 if u can come up with the $420

and he will sign it and furnish U his docs

He can take the kids via the courts( not a must)in a divorce

you are out of status, U have worked in your home taking

care of him, home, and kids & he never petitioned U after all

these yrs this is also covered by vawa. (mental & emotional

abuse).

Kids can only petition parents when they become 21 yrs
